I like Oklahoma Joe's.
Usually pretty good.
Lots of places to try though.
Happy Eating!! _________________ Pigcasso - BBQ is an art form |

I did a fair bit of business travel to Kc / Overland Park last year.
We tried KC Masterpiece, Jack's Stack, and OK Joes.
We liked OK Joe's the best (the one with the gas station). Jack's Stack the meat was fine but we didn't really care for any one of the 3 sauces offfered. KC Masterpiece was OK to say we'd tried it, but I'd go back to OK Joe's first.
Spare ribs was the best dish at OK Joe's we'd tried.
Have a great trip! _________________ Let's hope SoEzzy can ditch his heavy hand on photos in 2016!

Aurthur Bryants is right across from the speedway by Cabelas. Its not quite as good as their location downtown and their sauce is iffy but the meat is awesome. One of our other favorites is Smokehouse. The closest location to the show is in Gladestone just off I-29 and N Oak. Have fun at the show. We would be going but my wife is due with my son next week. _________________ DP Fat 40

I have never ate in KC, however I have heard that arthur bryant's is suppose to be one of the best. If i remember right it even has a simple dining feel about it. No plates just wrapped in wax paper and the portions are large. _________________ Can I get an order of fat, dipped in fat, wrapped with fat with some fat on the side?

I will be in KS starting the week of the 7th. Not in KC but will be making the 4 hour drive just to eat one of the days I am there. Gates and Bryant's are where I will be heading. _________________ free is better than cheap!! |

Gates was recommended to me by one of the guys I cook with. I've now tried it twice and wasn't impressed either time. _________________ Stumps GF223 Competition Model

| My family is from KC and I go there a couple times a year. Our favorite place is not in KC, but a little BBQ joint called Bates City BBQ. Its about 35 minutes East of KC on HWY 70. And if you go make sure you get a lot of fries. Some of the best fries I have ever had. |

That's the only place I've eaten 'que in KC. I don't recall which location it was the first time as it was a number of years ago. The last time was in spring of '07 at the location not far from the Plaza. Neither came even close to what I can do myself . . . _________________ Stumps GF223 Competition Model

Hello Folks,
Well the locals said to skip the big places and head over to
Wyandott Barbecue, 8441 State Ave, Kansas City, KS
This is not a show place by any means! But I never rate food by the building. Well we had 2 combo plates and 2 Bud Lights =$23.50
Combo = Ham, Ribs & Brisket
Well I'm not a big ham fan, but I left nothing on the plate.
The sause had a taste of apple sauce and some hot pepper.
My buddy take to 2 slices of bread that came with the food and makes a BBQ sauce sandwich . Open face so he gets 2.
The question, would I go back. YES!
Thanks Capt. Chrysler
Also just to keep you thinking.
We stayed at 10951 Metcalf Ave @ the Pear Tree Inn.
Friday night doing the parking lot bench racing. Headed in about 11:00 PM
Same thing Sat. night. A couple of ladies come over and tell us that last night (Friday) the got car jacked at gun point in the motel parking lot. Like right next to the our car trailer.
All this happened less than 30 min. after we went in.
So take care folks!!! |

I have only been to KC once for just a couple of days at a convention a few years ago. I ate at the original Arthur Bryant's location and loved it so much that I spent my second free meal there instead of trying somewhere else. The sauce was not worth the time, but thankfully, the meat was among the best I've tried at a restaurant (pulled pork on the first trip, ribs the second).
I can't speak for any other places, but I would recommend a trip to Arthur Bryant's. _________________ I likes to eat 'da pig!
