This may be a stupid question but how does everyone go about oiling their grill? Seems like the oil just burns off to me.

i oil up a folded paper towel. after the grill has come up to temp i give it a once over with the wire brush. then, just before putting food on, i'll wipe it down with the oiled paper towel. i know what you mean about the oil burning off...but if i oil right before i put the food on it works for me...

Then at the end of the grill, I wire brush it once again and put a thin coat of oil on as the grill continues to burn and cool. It sort of seasons it

I used to spray mine with grapeseed oil out of a spritzer bottle. Needs to be a thin oil though. Then wipe with paper towel if needed.

Call me crazy but now I spray mine with Pam (for grills) just before adding the food. Fire don't scare me but you may want to be carefull.

Depending on your grill types (stainless like mine) you may need to oil more then others. A buddy of mine buys new cast grills every year because he don't take care of it. Treat cast grills like you would your cast cookware.

I have stainless grates.

I just give it a good scrub and don't really oil it up. Instead, I often times spray my meat with a thin coat of oil (lots of marinades already have oil in them anyway).

If/when I do oil it, I usually spray it just before firing it up.

Martha Stewart recommends using tongs & rolled up rags/paper towels.

weber makes a spray for the grill that i use when cooking. but i also use a little butter spray on my steak to help hold the salt and pepper on, but to keep it from not sticking
