Bro, that is one damn nice pit. awesome detail. I noticed the firebox is (high heat?) black. Is the red a high heat? Wow.

Babyhuey I don't think you could get a complaint on your build if you asked for one.

Ok, you win! Are you sure this is the first time you have ever built one of these? Good Grief, that is one of the most Beautiful rigs I have ever seen! Even the best pro builders that I have seen would have a hard time toppin this masterpiece! I was gonna say that you have thrown in everything but the kitchen sink and then I looked again and there it was the kitchen sink! Your attention to detail is over the top! Brilliant Masterpiece!... Love it!!! Wink

WOW, THANKS GUYS!

Uncle Steve I sent you a PM

Brinnie Man, I wouldn't want to compete with you on any level, your work is awesome! If you are ever in KY I would like to meet you.

BBQMAN I always look to your post for advise, thank you for all you contribute here.

Hillbilly I hope the food off my cooker looks half as good as yours

BIG RON, vexter1, and 82' Thanks for your encouragement!

JOK3R-X YES! it is my first time building one of these and hope it's not the last. I am thinking of building one to sell because I had a blast building this one. Thanks for your compliments! I have to give credit to the builders and pros on here, I picked up most of my design ideas from here and magazines. This board is awesome.

A very nice build, lots of attention to the smallest details. Looking closer at your welds, nice tight bead and steady hand. there appears to be a lot of effort and love in your build. As for your wife's assertation of your compulsion, you have indeed found the propper catharsis to address your affliction. Great job.

A visit to that part of the world is very high on my wish list BabyHuey,
If I ever do get the Chance to visit, I will certainly be calling in to have a chat and with a Few Cold Beers in Hand to share.

Thanks to all that have emailed and contributed. Here is a update...

I seasoned it Friday and had a couple of minor problems. The firebox door when it got really hot got stuck and had to pry it open. Couldn't get it closed again until it cooled then it shut like it was suppose to. I just didn't allow enough space for expansion. Took the grinder to the problem areas.

It flowed perfectly (in my opinion) and held temps very steady between 225 and 275. The vertical (depending on which way the wind was blowing) stayed between 200 and 245.

The tuning plates are pretty close, but gonna do a little more tweaking there.

Since it was a first time cooking I cooked a Turkey and a bunch of leg qtrs.

My 8 Year old cleaned the bones and ate 4 pieces....

I am loving this cooker, not sure when I get to fire it again Evil or Very Mad Work is finally picking up a bit.
