Is there anyone here from the Flint, Michigan area? If so, could you recommend a place where I could get a good lump charcoal? Home Depot has Cowboy, and I'm not sure about Lowes's. There only thing I've seen at Wal Mart is Kingsford. I'm really trying to step my game up, but apparently I can't do that with briquettes, which is fine. I just need some help in this area.

How about some of "Billy Bones" private label?

He is in and around that side of MI,

Or cross into Canada and snag some Maple Leaf or Basques.

Menards carries the RO Steak House Lump.

I believe there are a couple of stores near Flint.

If you have any Do It Best hardware stores up there, they carry 20 lb. bags of Royal Oak.

It appears Do-It Best may be transitioning to Barbecue Wood Flavors brand lump (Academy has stopped stocking this brand and now stocks B&B Oak lump).

edit : Here's the hits when I use 'royal oak' in the search field
