I know this is slightly off-topic, but Budweiser and grilling/barbecuing are so closely linked that I think it is appropriate:
The Cardinals are in a rain delay in Detroit. During the rain delay, an announcement was made that the Anheuser-Busch board of directors rejected the take-over bid from Belgium-based inBev! The King of Beers will remain American, at least for now. The only alternative is for a hostile take-over. The A-B Board is set to release to shareholders a strategic plan that, in their opinion, is more attractive in the long run than the offer to buy from inBev. Awesome!
To show your support, and head off a potential hostile bid, please sign the petition here, savebudweiser.com.

Lets hope they hold out.. All the major Canadian breweries have been bought out my the Europeans.
Well, mostly.. Damned if Coors don't own controlling shares in Molson's... _________________ Chargriller Akorn

I'm doing my part to celebrate. On about my 12th Busch Light of the evening
Though i must admit, if money provided, i would always be drinking Micro-brews and imported beers. A-B products are fine when going for volume, but for taste, you cannot beat a Chimay, Grolsch, Dogfish Head, or Summit. ihmo anyway! |

Look on the bright side if a Belgium company bought it, they might actually turn it into a decent tasting beer, they make some of the best in the world . Not like the beechwood crap they have been serving for the last hundred some years. Or maybe they would just get rid of it and do the world a favor. |

| I live in St. Louis and while I drink mostly Red Stripe, Newcastle, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Guiness, etc... these days, I can't imagine the U.S. and especially St. Louis without it. It's an american institution |

I'm with 100% on the volume thing. Its just easier on my wallet to drink a 18 pack of Bud Light or Busch at 12 bucks then 18 dogfish head at 28 bucks. Now when the money is good, the Busch gets fewer and far between.
Is alcohol still real pricey up north of the border? Last time i went way up to Red Lake Ont., beer was dang expensive. |

Too bad. A takeover could only help improve that swill. The Miller stable is so far better than the AB junk. Funny thing is, they smack a German sounding name on their "beer", when technically, in Germany they could be arrested for producing it! (Rice in beer??? Really???) _________________ Go Hokies! |

AB, Miller, etc...are all water downed no taste brews. Something that has an institutional name only b/c of longevity. But really doesn't have much merit especially when there are many other smaller breweries out there that produce exceptional brews.
Personally, could care less if AB was taken over. Wouldn't affect me one way or the other. |

I here you on the weather. We might not be quite as cold here in the frozen tundra, but it took until last week to hit 80, and we still froze a few times in the Middle of May at night. |

We still got the pellet fireplace going from day to day as it does not seem to want to warm up. Only had shorts on once or twice so far... Talk about a short change on summer this year... and they say we got global warming...
14 "Lucky's" so far.. and I can still type. _________________ Chargriller Akorn
