Going to smoke my first rack of beef ribs tomorrow but have a question. Is there a membrane on the back of beef ribs and does most everyone take it off before smoking?

There definitely is a membrane, however, it is tougher to remove than from a rack of baby backs. I've eaten beef ribs with the membrane removed and with the membrane still intact. To be honest, I couldn't tell the difference............Soooooo, my recommendation would be to attempt to remove it but if it isn't cooperative, don't worry about it. Good luck!
