Has anyone heard of or tried these? What it is is a 14-16 oz clear plastic cup and you put in a layer of beans, then slaw and finally pulled pork. I am presuming it is eaten with a long fork. This would be used at a vending event. Apparently they were selling for $7.50 and were going like hotcakes. _________________ 18.5" WSM & 22.5" WSM

Those were a big deal on Basso's forum a couple of years ago. I'm sure if you posted over there you could get some feedback.
They called them some type of sundae though...
7.50 sound like what they were getting... _________________ Klose 72" Mobile

I have heard of and even tried a variation of that being a "BBQ Sunday".
Pulled pork in a cup, sauce drizzled in with it to look kind of like choc. sauce then topped with a scoop of slaw, and a pickle out the side to resemble a straw.
Pic from the basso forum that Jeff Hughes is taking about....

I think we are going to offer those at our mid-summer vending event.
Thanks for the posting of this, I have never heard or seen that combo before. _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |

Looks like it would be a big hit at Poker night, also.
Great idea! _________________ My Motto: Smoke, Drink, Eat...Repeat |

Man, oh, man--in the right venue, I'll bet those would be a HUGE hit.
Gonna make one up for lunch tomorrow--good use of leftovers....................... _________________ New Braunfels Offset Smoker

I've used a bowl before and loaded it in "rows" and it did fine for me, but the cup thing is a pretty groovy idea. I guess this totally shoots the "theory" that you can't vend sides all to heck. I love it and I know it would do great here. |

There is no way in hell I could get $7.50 for that item though.
I might be able to pull $5-$6 though.
I am thinking about adding a dollop of slaw on top too. So it would need to be a Carolina Cowboy Cocktail. _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |

| I think I can get $6 for it at festivals and the like; I probably couldn't keep up at $5. Around here almost nothing (main item) is less than $6 when it comes to festival food--maybe a hot dog, but that's about it. |

Hot pork, cold slaw. Just like a good Carolina sandwich.
I've made these for family before and they're awfully good. _________________ I likes to eat 'da pig!

| I served those up at the National Western Stock Show in Denver back in January. We sold over 1000 of the in 3 weeks at 7.00. I think you have to have the crowd there that knows BBQ to understand what you are doing.we called it the" Redneck Sunday". Having really no one there except cattle people, they understood what was in it, and it sold like wildfire |

I have sold them at a BBQ comp and town festival up here that lets the teams sell to the public.
There is a guy I know that says he coined the term "cowboy cocktail", so to avoid a problem with him we called our the "Cup-O-Cue"
16 oz clear plastic container bottom layer of beans, middle layer of meat (pork, brisket, or hot links) and a top layer of slaw or potatoe salad.
We had to give a couple away and told the people to walk around with them. After that, we had em lined up. _________________ The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over - Hunter S. Thompson |

Screw that!!
I am calling them cowboy cocktails!!
Those will be a great choice for vending if they do not want ribs. It is perfect "Walking Around" food _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |
