I came up with this concoction a couple weeks ago. I just made another batch last night, and took the time to write down all of the ingredients. Enjoy!

1 1/2 cups ketchup (I use Heinz)
1 cup molasses
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
3 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp black pepper
1 tbsp chili powder
1 tbsp mesquite liquid smoke (I use Stubb's)
2 tbsp mustard (I use Gulden's Spicy Brown)
1 tsp "Better Than Bullion" or 1 cube of beef bullion
3 shots of tequila (I used Jose Cuervo)
3 tbsp lime juice
1 tbsp honey
Cholula hot sauce - about 6 shakes or so.
I also used 2 drops of a hot sauce called "The Beast". It's VERY spicy, so a couple drops is all that's neeeded.

1. Pour the ketchup, molasses, and vinegar into a saucepan on low heat. Mix well.

2. Add in the garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and chili powder, and stir until blended.

3. Add in the mustard, and stir until blended. Add in the bullion, and stir until blended. Add in the honey and liquid smoke, and stir until blended.

4. Pour in three shots of tequila, and 3 tbsp of lime juice. Stir until blended.

5. Add in the hot sauce, and stir until blended. Leave the sauce on low heat for 5 minutes, stirring occaisionally. Remove from heat.

At this point, you can either serve the warm BBQ sauce, or refrigerate it if you're not eating until later.

I made some chicken drumsticks last night, and this sauce goes GREAT with them. I'd imagine it goes well with pork too. I'm going to do a brisket on Thursday, and try this sauce on it as well.

The CHOLULA SAUCE is just a hot sauce.

Such as a Louisana Hotsauce

It has a mexican twist to it though.

Hope that helps.

You can get it here: http://cholulastore.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=3. It's fast becoming one of my favorite sauces. We have a chain around here called Qdoba, about my favorite Mexican grill type fast food joint, and they have this sauce there. Love it.

Here in the US, Cholula Sauce proudly says "Imported from Mexico" right on the top of the label. The ingredients say arbol and piquin peppers.

It's got a kind of orange color, and I've seen it in local Mexican restaurants. I have a bottle, but it's not my favorite. I've really been liking the Tobasco Chipotle. Until my dad found some "Buffalo" brand Chipotle imported by Herdez. That stuff is awesome.

Cholula, as others have said, is a Mexican hot sauce. It's orange-red in color, and has a wooden cap on the bottle. I think it tastes pretty good, and has an acceptable level of heat. I added in the other, spicier hot sauce to boost the heat level of my BBQ sauce, and the Cholula hot sauce more for flavor.
