Ran into quite a dilemma today as I was trying to practice up for an upcoming contest.
Upon the initial start-up and throughout the cooking process, our DigiQ went haywire. After much trouble-shooting throughout the day, I tracked it down to the thermo-cord.
This DigiQ is only nine months old and came with our Stumps Elite. Is it common for these cords to wear out that fast? There were no signs of crimping on the cord with the problem.
I have ordered a new set and a back up at a cost of $23/cord. This is pretty salty if they are not going to last any time at all. _________________ Pigs-R-Us

I keep a spare for my gurus. I have had them jump goofy before like that. I have also slammed the cord in the door latch cutting them in half. mine are $37 + shipping. But make sure you have a spare, or two _________________ Steve H

During our early days with the guru pit minders on the different Stumps smokers we were using we shut a power supply cord in the firebox door and clipped a temp probe wire in the cooker door latch (you can't splice that one back together and make it work right, we tried)
We also melted many a magnetic el' cheapo digital thermometer/timers when they got stuck to the side of a hot pit. Before our insulated Stumps days.
Jeffro's problems with the DigiQ were the first that we have experienced that have not obviously been self inflicted.
His problem yesterday was that I have the back-up pitminder with me a mere 300 miles north of him. We have all heard how poorly the Elite operates when the draft fan doesn't work.
BTW - any pictures of the test product results ??? _________________ Big Tom

Sorry Big Tom, but no pics....
Although, the scores did come back:
2nd Brisket
8th Ribs
5th Pork
I did not enter chicken as it was going to be too late of an entry!
All jokes aside, most of us don't realize that "our" BBQ is better than any restaurant 'que that you can get.
I had a good friend of mine do some welding work for me, and he would not take cash. So, I offered to cook some ribs for him. Just minutes after he got home, he called. Said that his family cleaned all the bones like a bunch of vultures. LOL Told me Monday those were the best ribs he had ever eaten.......
I'm not bragging on my ribs, but rather saying this........
If you ever have any doubts about your cooking ability, let a member of the general public sample. Most people only know the BBQ they get at Corky's and other chains. Be kind and cook some of these folks some good stuff every now and then and you'll be surprised at the response you will get _________________ Pigs-R-Us

| The brisket was some kind of good. Jeffro's mother was sure glad he came to visit for father’s day, and brought leftovers. |

Of course.
Do you know anyone else who would claim Jeffro? He cooks some pretty good Q too. The brisket was top notch.
Good luck to you two in Lawrenceburg. _________________ If Your Lookin You Ain't Cookin

No doubt!
I'd say most folks around here produce better BBQ product than any local restaurants. Especially the larger restaurant chains (BBQ or otherwise).
The restaurants are in the restaurant business...not the BBQ business. |

Judging from his/Mom's compliments, I think I know what Pappa BBQ and I might be cooking for the "anything but" competition at his Elk's Lodge contest in the fall _________________ Pigs-R-Us
