Hey all!

I'm a new guy to the forum - I absolutely LOVE to cook and am in the process of seeking out a nice smoker to add to our addition. Currently I only have a 3 burner Weber Genesis gas grill but once I get my tax rebate check, look out hardware store!!!!

Also, I was curious to know if anyone has had any success doing pulled pork on a gas grill.....I called my local butcher and he can do it bone in or boneless (I'm assuming boneless but not too sure?), probably going to get a six or seven pound Boston Butt and add the chips to the smoker box.

This would be my first attempt at making pulled pork so if anyone has a link or a recommendation for a first timer I would greatly appreciate any tips to get me headed in the right direction.

Thanks everyone - looking forward to staying around this place for a while.....I'll post pics of the grub soon!

Welcome to the ring Ralphie, Good luck on your quest for a smoker. You can do a Butt on your gasser if you do an indirect heat, (fire one side Butt on the other). Give it a whirl there have been posts about just what you want to do. I have a question, do you like your Genesis? I am fixing to purchase a new gas grill and I sure like the looks of them.

Well, so far I don't think I've ever had a better piece of equipment than my Weber grill. Lucky for me, that I entered a contest at a local grocery store and I won it on my birthday to boot! Bad thing was I bought a Perfect Flame grill for my b-day present & had to resell it because I won the Weber.....but hey......call it an affordable loss! The Perfect Flame was already getting rust stains on the steel. Bad. Weber also has one of the best warranties in the business as far as parts & service go (I think my lid has 20 years). The heat maintains at an accurate temp (as far as I can tell) and it sears steaks & chops very well. I also think one of the nicest things about the Webers is the customer support and if anything ever breaks or gets cruddy you can always pick up replacement parts at your local hardware store if you're out of warranty. And no, I don't work for Weber, but I sure as heck love their grills! Oh, and three burners are an absolute MUST in my opinion. They have two burner grills out there but I really didn't see the point. Just cooked me and the bride up some Greek style chicken breasts for dinner, along with garlic and onion potatoes with a tiny kiss of jalepenio peppers & some grilled corn on the cob with cajun butter last night. I'll post the recipe for the chicken soon - I recently made it up on the fly and I think it RAWKS!!!!! Very Happy

Welcome ralphie. Indirect heat is the way to go . Cook your butt at 225 - 250 to an internal temp of 190. remove and foil to rest 1 hour. Give yourself extra time for the cook but you can figure as much as 1.5 hours per pound. Its done when its done. 190 internal is the key. Good luck

I love my Weber Genesis as well! The new ones look alot nicer though Wink

I have a friend who does pork on the gasser with no problem. Smoke flavor is a bit light though but it can be done with good results.
