I have learned a great deal from you on how you put the pit together
also going through the big storm you had down in Texas.
I lived in Houston for a while, saw all kinds of bbq pits down there.
What is the color you are going with on the pit
And if your work slab is bare and it bugs you well my friend
time to start another one
Great build k.a.m

Chuck, thanks for the kind words. The cooker is going to be black I changed paint companies to help save some money on her build they are supplying the paint it will get a Zinc primer then top coat and I might add a few detail things not sure yet. And I am already looking for another project I love building things. |

| koloa, I can tell you a cooker like this will nickel and dime you to death so be prepaired. A lot of measuring and remeasuring will save you a ton of money unless you like scrap piles my total scrap from this build would not fill a five gallon bucket. Think it out and rethink it. The pipe for the cooker and fire box no cost the leg pipe no cost the plate to cap ends no cost that was all donated to the build paint no cost total spent material not including electricity around $700.00 to date. This included rods Gas and oxy. Misc. steel plate angle Iron and tubing and what have ya. These builds can be fun I suggest you start gathering materials and stock pile take your time and spend wisely look around for good deals. If I can help in any way just ask I will try. |

| k.a.m. , you are so right on the cost of building a cooker . I had 3 x that $ amount in the one I built , but the only thing I started with was the tank. Little did the SIL know.... LOL . Thinking out the next step is important to avoid making making scrap pieces that go outback the shop to be hopefully used on another project . I would wake up at night and be thinking why did'nt I do it this way instead of making it the way I did !! Spent a lot of time just thinking out the next logical step . I remember laying out the grating for the shelves for three days before I made my first cut w/ the saw . Your build looks awesome , shows a lot of thought and your craftsmanship . Very well built. Enjoyed watching it being built . Koloa , there is a cost sheet on mine some where in the forums ,steel prices where way up when I built mine but , it will give you some idea of the $'s and material used . Good luck and any questions you have , just ask away , there are some good people here to answer them ! Oh and k.a.m., Tell mrs. k.a.m. that redfish looks wonderful !!!! |

Can't wait to see it painted!!! I know I have told you before how much I like your smoker but it is just one of the best builds that I have seen! Over all originality, craftsmanship, design, quality, yours is "THE BEST" I have seen on this forum and others I won't mention! I think I have seen them all from ones that are the size of a large construction dumpster all the way down to the size of a 20 gal propane tank. Seen some that look like a large six shooter and others that look like the State of Texas. I love how yours is based around the traditional design but at the same time it is totally something new and inovative with your showcase Blacksmith and welding genious! Can't wait to see your next build, gonna be hard to top this but I am sure you will!!! _________________ The Original - Triple Barrel Smoker

As promised here are the final painted pics and the seasoning. I had every intention of cooking on it today but that will be next weekend I have time as she is having a slab poured for it and I will not need to deliver it for a week or two. I got really side tracked today so by the time I would have had her to cooking temp to late to cook.
The inside was left white metal by the painters.
After the cooker settled down I was able to maintain around a 10° to 15° diff. from left side to the right
side not to bad for no tuning plates.
