As our smallest and most portable Backwoods Cooker, the Chubby also serves as one of our most versatile offerings in our cooker lineup.

The Backwoods Smoker Chubby can easily be converted into a grill or a BBQ pit by simply removing the stainless water pan.

It has 4 racks 16 1/2 x 15 1/2 inches and comes with two extra sliders for more fliexible arrangement of your meat.

The cooking compartment is 13 inches high, 17 inches deep and 16 inches wide. The fire box is 2 inches high, 18 inches deep and 16 inches wide. The charcoal pan is designed to hold approximately 10 pounds of briquettes comfortably. It is designed with an expanded metal bottom that allows the ashes to fall through into an ash pan for easy cleaning.

Depending on the temperature you cook at, the Chubby can give you an 8 to 10 burn. It will hold 12 slabs of baby back ribs, 8 slabs of St. Louis style or 4 slabs of spare ribs. The Chubby will also hold 2-3 large briskets or 4-6 Boston Butts.

The Chubby weighs in at a hefty 115 lbs.

Has a great Screen Name ^^^

Welcome to the ring. Have no practical experience with that cooker but lots of folks here do. A fine cooker by the accounts I've read here.

Capacity.

The ceramic cookers offer more variety in cooking temperatures and styles but can't compete with the capacity of the manufactured vertical style smokers.

If you are leaning towards the BGE, take a look at this site
www.nakedwhiz.com they are the BGE experts, and also they are charcoal obsessed to a disturbing degree.

If you want more info on the WSM or Pro-Q (close enough to be considered the same techniques) go over to "the virtual weber bullet" site.

Those 2 places should give you enough information for a very informed decision.

Also, the cost of one BGE could purchase several Pro-Q or WSM units.

My one thought - buy one or two sizes bigger than you currently think you'll need - I've bought 3 in two years to get bigger. Now have a Klose 20x48 and wish it were bigger.

Hey Hugh jweener, In the world of smokin it's a operators preference on the smoker. I use the bigger must be better strategy.
