This is the remote thermometer I"ve been using for over a year with good results.
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=8587360
right at $15. Don't know if they accept Paypal or not.
Good luck with whichever you get. _________________ Treager Texas pit

Yeah that's the one I've been looking for elsewhere but can't find the name of it ... since Wal-Mart doesn't accept paypal I can't order it from there. _________________ Ever wonder why deoderant smells so good, but tastes so bad? Me too!! |

PayPal has a new browser plug-in that lets you pay with PayPal on any site, even ones that do not take PayPal.
Just search "plug-in" on the PayPal site and you'll find it. _________________ CG SP w/ Mods

For some reason the search function on this site has me baffled, I can not figure it out to save my life. Can you give me the lowdown, cliffs notes version maybe? I would appreciate it!
Thanks. _________________ Ever wonder why deoderant smells so good, but tastes so bad? Me too!! |

Interesting Teleking, thank you. What I gather is that your not one for using the digital probes for monitoring meat temp. you prefer the analog style for that ... which I completely understand!
I think though that I forgot to mention I'm not going to be using it to read actual meat temps, I also have a Analog Thermometer for that. I only want to use the digital probe to monitor grate temps. While I understand they can fail, I also feel you have to have something in their monitoring those temps because those silly little thermometer that come screwed onto the lid of smokers don't really cut it.
Thanks. _________________ Ever wonder why deoderant smells so good, but tastes so bad? Me too!! |

I have to admit, my maverick after 5 uses crapped out on me I am sending it back for a replacement.
It seems some folks have great luck with these, or horrible. I really liked mine, and being a complete noobie, it was great. But I have to admit I am trying to decide on my next thermo set up wich will probably be analog. _________________ Andy

| I think with all the talk about the digital gauges, How about just 2 or 3 analog thermometors stuffed in the meat and left there while cooking. They are cheaper and dont crap out. If this is a good choice which analog therms. whould you all suggest. |

| I like the LED on that thing. I don't have one with that. Mine is a Weber brand (I'm sure it's badge engineered) |

I tried a Maverick digital duel probe. Model ET-7. While it was accurate it will stop receiving a signal from the thermo, and has very short range. I have used it twice. In fact i got a brisket on the smoker right now and it has totally stopped receiving a signal. POS!!!
Am looking for a better unit, just not sure what to waste my money on next. |
