| Thanks Hillbilly. Now I have this huge feeling of jealousy. I myself am wanting to build a brick smoker/grill/storage cabinet, however I can't seem to get the time to get started on the deck that needs to be built before the patio, before the smoker. Well now I might just get enough motivation. |

Thanks guys, when its all done, right at $1000, couldve built it cheaper though, going with 6 lug axle so i could put the chevy mags on it cost me about $300 more, i had to buy spacers for the hubs just so i could put the center caps on the wheels, the cap that seals the hub where the bearings are was sticking out to far, plus another $200 for the tires, so if i wouldve went with just a standard 2000lb axle i couldve saved around $400 probably. half my steel was given to me which helped. waiting on my diamond plate aluminum fenders a buddy is custom making for me, heres a pic of the fire

Thanks Jeff, painting it is no biggie, just need to grind off where im gonna weld for the upright. which i wouldve had to do anyway because the tank was already painted. |

| Seasoned for 6 hours sprayed it down with vegetable oil a few times, shes good to go for the cook in the morning, gonna start about 4am with the butts. those guages i installed are junk, made by http://users.northlc.com/rivercountry101/5.htm guess i need to shop around for some good ones. was able to maintain 225 on the smoking side with the firebox vents halfway open, one other thing i need to add is to lay a piece of expanded metal on top of the firegrate, i noticed i was losing alot of coals that were falling down into the ash pan. so far im pleased, it had a good draw, i didnt have the deflector plate in and on the grill side there was little smoke was mainly heat, but had good smoke coming out of the smoking side, so when i put the deflector plate in that will direct all the heat and smoke to the smoking side. |

It aint over yet, , still have the upright smoker to add, handles, dampers on the stacks, firebox vent lever, shelf in front of the doors, fenders & lights on the trailer, trailer accessories, and maybe a roof system |

Looks really, really good - I'm kinda jealous that we started our cookers at about the same time, but you got done first!
Oh, well. I'll get mine done eventually here... :>

happy fourth and nice job completing this cooker in time for the fourth. You might want to buy some of those cheap oven thermometers(the kind that sits in the roast pan) they are like a dollar or two and work really good in the smoker. Just until you order the good ones .. And for butts don't be afraid to get that temp up to 250 won't hurt it one bit!!! As I saw in an earlier post, someone thought you didn't have enough air dampers...just crack the door open if you run into a problem. With a stick burner you need plenty of air as you do not want to see a lot of smoke just a clean burning fire. Nice work on everything.. . just thought I would add my two cents....been watching this build from the get go I am not a welder so I didn't have too much to add until now Looking good and what impresses me is how fast you got the thing built !!!!Hope you have a great party _________________ Them Bones BBQ

Great build HillbillySmoker! Everything is coming together very well. I would say that is sounds like your air intake is working fine for you. That's good information to know for future builds. Good luck on your cook today! I'll be looking forward to the pictures. Happy 4th to you and everyone on the Ring! _________________ Homemade offset smoker 24"x48"

Hillbilly, nice work. I need to add a fresh air intake to my firebox. How long did it take you using the circular saw and metal cutting blade to cut the hole in your second picture? _________________ Vermont Castings Gas when I don't have time
