I am amazed at the quality of that pit. It looks incredible. I bet the food that rolls off that baby will melt in your mouth.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I dig the DPP's

I could be wrong but I thought in the past the chrome stacks were straight up. I like yours as it keeps water, etc...out

Enjoy!

I was busy today cooking and didn't take any pics. The food came out grat and the Guru maintained my set temp of 240 degrees for 5 hours until I took my first ever small boston butt off. It came out great. I still needed to add a split a litlle longer than a hour. I'm very pleased with the Guru on already a fine a pit. It has two 25cfm fans and Travis welded the pipes in the fire box along with putting a coupling in the cooking chamber for the temp probe. Travis really hooked me up and called me today while with his family at the lake to make sure I knew how to work it. He is the best . Also he desinged the Guru hookup on his own as well in desiging the big grill up front. It's all comercial heavy duty stuff.
I really think capping off the snouts and acting as a diffuser helps the pit cooks almost perfect even give and take a minor few. It doesn't throw the heat to the front near as bad.

I think DPP, Longstar by Bates and Stumps can't go wrong.

It's good to hear that the pit is working out for you. Seems the guru is a nice addition and from the pictures Travis did a first class job installing the plumbing. I am looking forward to the pictures on future cooks. I will have to look into the snout capping for my pit.

Thanks for showing pics of the guru plumbing, I have my 70 series coming with a set-up for optional stoker use, I was wondering how he was going to handle that.

Did you get doors on both ends of the firebox too? I went with right-side only. and a 50/50 split on the doors, no gas, and charcoal pans if I ever needed a huge grill.

I was also told that DPP's chrome stack supplier stopped making the ones he likes, so they had to change suppliers and there are some differences in quality, finish & shape. I wasn't going to get chrome, but they just look so good with it I had to do it!

Great cooker!! More pics???

Harry I went with the standard on doors on both ends. I think it is very needed when your fire box is 4 ft long. It works great to put two splits on each end that assures you to have almost even fire for both snouts. Also you don't want to have to reach too far in to try to the put the logs dead center. very easy to get burnt in this log machine Smile

Florida,

You got some feedback on the other forum, but I didn't see the guru and a few other pics until now. VERY NICE! You're just going to have to call in sick so you can do some more cooking and post us some pics. Very Happy

Good luck to you brother.

Since I have never seen a DPP in person, the firebox length never occured to me!!

Hmmm, I wonder if the 70's firebox is bigger then the 60 series, I bet it is!

I have a few fabricators around here that I could contract to add another door if I need it.

I am getting it in 2 weeks,

Thanks, FB

It is the same lenth as the 60 and probably not to late for Travis to add the door. Good Luck with that fine big machine they rock on the meat Smile
