Well the 2008 MIM event is in the books!

A special thanks to Mike, Shotzie, Neil, and all the other members of the SwineBucks BBQ team for providing us with the opportunity to participate.

A great time was to be had by all.

The highlight for me was meeting so many great folks.

Thanks Steve from Simple Q for the hospitality and showing us some great cookers that I have not seen in person. Your shoulder was outstanding!

David Klose and his team from Norway were also a pleasure to meet. David took the time to chat with me about his current and past projects. The workmanship on his pits is truly first class!!!!!! Thankfully the team from Norway has a much better grasp English than my Norwegian! Truly great folks one and all.

Mike: Great Photos thanks for joining us! Hope you will be back next year. We all had a great time. The smoked salmon was perfect. I will post some additional photos as soon as possible.
Thanks
Mike

That was our whole hog on the grill. We have made every year since the early 80's & I have been on the team since 85. I met so many new people this year & at least 8-10 of them are regulars here on the Smoke Ring. The Holy Smokers Too came in 13th with the hog in your picture.
I hope a good time was had by all,
John

Very cool!!!!!

I was really surprised when your team offered to have me in to take a look shortly before judging. Certainly appreciated the hospitality, and enjoyed seeing how your hog presentation was put together.

Thanks again for helping make my experience all that more enjoyable! Very Happy

BBQ man, the fourth picture down, was that the team from belgium? The only downfall to MIM is being a head cook and not being able to wander (meet & greet) folks. Im glad you guys enjoyed your visit and just wish we could have spent more time together BSing about BBQ

I'm not sure, but that rotisserie set-up was pretty cool! Big open fire contained in a basket with spits on each side.

Might explain why they were not very talkative though! Laughing

Yes the 4th picture down was from Belgium (altough I think some were really from France) The team was called Demineux. They only had 1 English speaking person on the team. They were very friendly & tried to communicate any way they could.
My shift came on at 5am and when I was coming down the hill they had not even put the hog on at that point. about 5:35 I walked by to get coffee from another team & it was on at that point. Extremely hot fire it was rendering fat in less than 45 minutes. by 8:00 when my shift was over they had about an inch of fat on the tray underneath.
I did notice a for sale sign on it late Saturday. $25,000.

Looks like David Klose's name was mis-spelled on his shirt "close". Bet he was happy to be wearing that. LOL

Does anyone know how the Barbecue Butches from Norway did?

I had the pleasure to meet them two weeks prior to Memphis at the Berlin BBQ. Great people!

Hey there Karlsson!

Great bunch, the Norwegians were cooking with David Klose (unless the bunch you are referring to is a different group).

Full results are to be found here:

Those folks were all just totally awesome Karlsson!!!!!!

The best part of this event was meeting all the great folks from around the globe! Very Happy

I spent about 45 minutes chatting with David about his current and past projects. Truly a first class bunch if there ever was one.

A special thanks to Vexter for the introduction!
