|
Had several requests, so I thought I'd throw out some examples from our first year for discussion and learning purposes.
Some of my year one boxes are pretty fun, not sure they'll end up in public
Here's a rib box.
Post your scores for appearance. After a couple of days, I'll post the real score and how well (or not so well) it did.

Too many ribs in the box.. only 6 judges right.. sparse on the lettuce from what I see.. and maybe too much sauce for my liking.
Beautiful colour om those ribs Okie...Man.. Your a rib machine.
I'd say some 7's and mostly 8's. _________________ Chargriller Akorn

I'd give this an 8 due to the dark spot on the lower left rib and the uneven cuts.
Roxy, the extra ribs are a good thing -- you have to have at least 6 but having extra just makes it look more appetizing. _________________ Steve

What cut of rib are you using? They look like spares, but they are really short. Even my St. Louis ribs arent that short.
I think they look great btw. _________________

I'd say a 7 or 8. Lettuce wasn't uniform all around and I think the irregular shaped ribs in front detract somewhat.
I personally love the shiny glaze and beautiful coloring. Very nice. _________________ My perfect recipe... meat and smoke.

Same as chicken, put as many in as you want. I put 12 in once (it was a larger box and the ribs were small)
Quote: | Beautiful colour om those ribs Okie...Man.. Your a rib machine. | Thanks, I work VERY hard on the look of the ribs and we've got probably 10 top 5's in the last couple of years.

That was our first year, we got better on the lettuce. We do fill in when we see it.
One thing we did was push all the ribs together so they didn't look so irregular, looks more like a slab. |
