| Hey, folks. My name is Mario, I'm from Flint, Michigan. I've always fancied myself as somewhat of an amateur chef, but recently I purchased a Char Griller Super Pro, and decided I wanted to dedicate myself to the love of outdoor cooking. I recently had an outing where I cooked a few slabs of rips, and some chicken. Thanks to doing my own research of some of the great recipies out there, I was able to make some of the best tasting, tender ribs I've ever produced. I'm hoping to be able to step it up, though. My next chore is to smoke a turkey. I've had this turkey since Christmas time, and I figured it'd be the best thing to experiment on, since nobody around here is going to be eating it anytime soon. If anyone could help me to figure out how to do this with the grill and smoke box I have, it would be much appreciated. Other than that, I can't wait to see what you guys here are all about. |

Welcome to the ring Mario.I would spatchcock it,rub it down with some olive oil and favorite rub, cover it with some bacon and throw it in the cooker,I would cook at 275-300 degrees until at least 170 degree's, internal. _________________ Horizon Offset (Marshall RD Special)

| Wow. That sounds great. Thanks for the input. The only thing with that is, I literally do not know how to use the fire box. That's how new to this whole smoking thing. I've looked around, and seen some things, but I wouldn't trust myself to smoke something as of this time. |

Welcome to the Smoke Ring, Mario
Practice - Practice and then some more practice - Just follow the instructions that came with your cooker for a while - you will soon learn the do's and donts with it - And it won't take long before you will become an expert with your cooker
Its a lot of trial and error !!!--- Sometimes more error than trial _________________

What exactly is the purpose of the basket?
Thanks for all of your help, folks. It's truly appreciated. |
