| Has anyone ever soaked his wood chips in beer instead of water? I have not but was wondering what the results might be. |

| I think it will make your beer taste like wood chips. Sounds like alcohol abuse to me. |

I agree, and it makes no difference in the taste of the meat.
Wine will impart a flavor (slight) as will whiskey (decent). Beer, not at all, just a waste of good brew.

You really dont need to soak wood chips anyway.
Using oak wine barrel staves for smoking wood that might be another story because the wine has actually soaked into the wood over the years it was in the barrel. _________________ Electricity can be dangerous. there are hickory mills all over down here in missouri, i get the hickory blank scraps used for axe and hammer handles, cut them in about 2" squares, then get a bottle of jack or beam which ever is cheapest and a five gallon bucket with a lid. i fill the bucket full, pour in about a fifth of whiskey minus a flask full, get a good sealed lid, and pop it on, tie it on the back rack of my fourwheeler on its side and go for a 4-5 hour ride turning it ever so often.. then let it sit over night, flip again, sit all day, then strain the whiskey out and let those dry in the sun. should have enough whiskey to do this about 3-4 times. it does put a little bit of whiskey flavor in the chips and can really notice in chicken and pork.. about the 3rd time you wanna stop trying to drink the whiskey lol it gets kinda nasty. _________________ bullpin double barrel smoker
