Hello,
Have been a lurker here since last summer when I started building our outdoor kitchen/smoker. The crowd here seems to be a super bunch and I look forward to getting involved.
Below are some pics of the new edition albeit you can see there are still some things to get finished like floor tile, back splash and overhead pergola beams, but it works. Did my first test smoke of a butt last Saturday to see if it would really work on a long smoke. The first test burn was earlier in the week with a sacrificial small pork loin. Both came out great. I still also need to tweak a flue damper and modify the opening between the firebox and meat compartments. Until then it is does take some baby sitting and watching the Redi-Check remote.
Thanks for looking and all the info you've been providing - it has been invaluable!!
Brad

Thank you. As you can also see, am not the best/neatest mason out there.
She's my helper, always at my feet/side. Have pics of the build showing her up on the scaffolding "helping". The pics are deceptive she weighs in at about 60 lbs.
P.S. to the above posting, also did a batch of ABTs on Sat. Count me, my son and brother as the lastest 3 addicted members of ABT Anon. |

Wow! That looks awesome man!
Very nice work, indeed. I've been wanting to try my hand at a brick pit. On yours...Is that the only place for the meat (the smaller door on the left with the racks)? I'd like to be able to cook a heap, but with a similar design.
Damn nice pics for sure. And good lookin' lab. I have two and they, like yours, have to be in the mix.

| Bryce, thanks for the kind words. Yes, that is the only meat section. It is about 27" deep x 18" wide x 24" tall. It can hold about 6 butts and still have a left over rack, which is more than enough for what we want to do. If we need to do a whole pig or something large, we have friends with larger mobile units. |

Great Job! Pretty good for a guy that isnt a bricklayer, And I'm a masonry contractor! www.jandjmasonry.net Only suggestion I have is to cap your chimney with the same profileas your counter. That overhanging tile will double the life of your masonry! keep the tile grout in excellent shape and it will eliminate any moisture dammage to the brick. The mortar wash on your chimney will allow moisture in and soon you will have a white film forming on the exterior of the brick, It is called effloresence. The water brings salts and other minerals out of the mortar and brick onto the face and evaporates leaving the white haze.
Again great job!!!!

| Thanks for the advice brokeneck! Suppose for appearance/matching purposes, I could get some tile that color matches the brick. Thanks again! |
