Been using a dhimney for a couple of years and havent used starter fluid since. Now dont worry about the fluid after taste. I take 3 sheets of newspaper, wad not to tight, drizzle a little cookig oil over paper.and light.
I also tlit the chimney to one side simply by placing a piece of charcoal under the chimney and 2 beers later ,dump into grill.

I use to use the doughnut method with great results. Then the local news paper changed the paper they were using. The texture and thickness changed. For some reason the crap does not burn well. One day I tried something different and have been using it since. I use the cup holders you get from any fast food joint to hold your drinks. There’re made like egg cartons and light and burn great every time. Found I can buy a big stack of them really cheap at the local Cash N Carry.

I use the propane burners on my trailer. Works like a charm. Fire it up for about 30 seconds and the coals are ready in about ten minutes. _________________ Matt
