Just noted that I never showed my latest gimmick, bought in February:
The Kipgrill
You might have seen a german Christmas Pyramid, the Kipgrill works the same way:
Since "Kip" is dutch meaning chicken, the first trial had to be with a chicken.
This was on a cold day, and as you can see on the last picture, the thicker part of the brest didn't really get brown and crispy since the heat escaped, but other than that the chicken was good.
So the next day, I tried again - simply turning the chicken arround:
And this time I was quite satisfied with the result:
Finally a few days later, I gave it another run with greek styl gyros:
A boston butt:
Cut in slizes and seasoned with olive oil, oregano and some greek style rub:
Stacked on the rotisserie:
And here it goes:
Served with cole slaw and tzaziki:
Overall the Kipgrill is a cool gadget. There is nothing you couldn't do with your smoker, but it puts up a great show.

As far as I know, yes - and only in the Netherlands (sometimes I've seen some dealers on german-ebay who have a few).

It does fit in. Just don't have time for a trial run today, but I will get a chicken for tomorrow and take some pics.

let me know what you find out for the US. I've been looking for something to do my tacos al pastor in and this seems to fit the bill.

Hey there Karlson, maybe you can help me (us) out.
I did email the manufacturer, and yes I realize they are a (right now) European only company.
I would pay for shipping, and of the course the absurdly high price increase due to what the Euro trades against the dollar.
No response (yet)!
This would probably be a neat BBQ gadget to market over here (assuming it works as advertised), and can be had at a reasonable price for a bulk order.
Any thoughts, or am I just not going to to get one of those jewels? _________________ BBQMAN

You do some fab work, right? Think you could make one? I know I am not that coordinated, but it doesn't look impossible. Might even be able to go a little bigger. Which, as we know, is the American way. _________________ Matt

Thanks for the vote of confidence there Matt!
Yes it could be done with typical fab shop tools and a lot of experimenting. It's actually harder to make something like that work well than it looks!
The vanes at the top need to be sized correctly, have the proper pitch, and be uniform. This would involve numerous prototypes to get it right.
The cylinder body has ribs as well to help it hold it's shape when it heats.
The whole thing looks like stainless, which does move when heated. This can cause binding of the moving parts if not built with corrrect tolerances
I'd like to sell those here in the states, not manufacture them!
In the long run, probably cheaper just to buy one. _________________ BBQMAN

I'll try to get in touch with them and see what they say. If they don't want to ship overseas, I certainly could buy one for you and ship it over.
I'll advice outcome asap, just travelling myself this week, so it might take a few days until get back.

I finally got some feedback from the supplier in the Netherlands. They opened an opportunity on their website to ship to the US:
Quote: | Thanks for starting this forum . I can ship the KipGrill to the USA for € 35,00.
I’ve made an option in the English version to ship it to the USA.
Find it on the button, “order now” and then “Transport (shipping)”
Give by “Additional remarks” more information like county etc.
Tnx and have a nice smoke!
By the way, very nice pictures you have made! |

Enjoy!

I would think you could adapt a Drum smoker to do the same thing with one of those cool looking charcoal baskets and a way to mount a rotisserie motor vertically and a pivot point that will work with all the weight of the meat on it. _________________ Electricity can be dangerous.
