Where can I find a good digital thermometer with wire leads into cook chamber? Also are there any with more than one lead, I would like to maybe have 3 or 4 leads in there.

http://www.nu-temp.com/tvwb/

Nu's are good too. I think a little better built than ET-73.

I’ve made my opinion very clear on digital remote thermometers. All a bunch of junk imported from china with the probes going bad in the blink of an eye. For the price of one Mav you can get 3 or 4 analog thermometers that will remain accurate for years to come.

I have not personally used that thermometer so I can't comment. I was just directing you to a site.

I honestly have had good luck with all my digital probes. In fact, I just checked mine the other day and were right on so I can't really complain.

You still prefer candles to lightbulbs, don't you?

The price of electricity these days, that ain’t a bad idea Wink

I am not going to get into my real feelings on digital remotes and a quick search will find my stance. I don’t trust them anymore due to a ruined cook. Do a google search and you will see the probe failures are pretty common.

Oh, I'm not doubting that you have your reasons. And I had the probe on mine fail a few weeks ago, so I know it happens. I just thought the Luddite response of "screw technology--analog for life!" was hilarious.

Actually I would go for a digital probe like a therma pen (if I had the kackle). The remote probe models are out the door when my last working probe fails. I now only use it for cooking chamber temps and have analogs for meat temps.

Just think that for the price of replacing your probe that will go bad in the future could buy 2 dishwasher safe analog probes.

Being a relative newbie to the BBQ culture, I have noticed that the dual probe thermometer that I have been using has greatly improved my Q. I open the doors far less, and have learned alot about how my smoker responds to adding fuel and adjusting the dampers. I have also noticed that the seasoned vets with many cooks under their belts, and who know their smokers well, don't benefit from the digital probes as much. I personally see myself packing my probes in after a few dozen more cooks for the durability and ease of the analog thermometer.
