Shortly after the tornado hit our street last night, I found myself climbing over debris to see if my new smoker was ok. After all, the car in the driveway was totaled, part of the neighbor's house was caved in, most of our sidewalk had been sucked up, five 50-60 foot pin oaks had been uprooted or busted, and the gas main was ruptured in two places. I figured the smoker had suffered a similar fate.

I should have known better.

Rental car with optional tree roof accessory.

The one tree that didn't uproot completely.

Next-door neighbor's kitchen.

One ton of tornado-proof awesomeness.

God took care of it because he was looking forward to some more of that sweet blue smoke!

Don't I know it?! I talked to an insurance guy right before I went to Houston and he was willing to insure it, but he waited around and didn't call me back before it was time to go. After I got back, I told myself I would just wait until closer to contest season. I might have to rethink that now.

Clearly, the Q Gods are stronger than whatever gods were looking at the NLR airport.

I hope pin oak has the same flavor as red oak. The best revenge is to turn it into Q wood.

D*mn trees. You should make firewood out of it.

A few years ago we made a hefty 50 ton 25hp woodsplitter. It came out very nice and before we had split 2 cords on it, a massive 36"+ oak fell perfectly on top of it during a hurricane. After a few MINOR repairs, it was back in action and i made firewood out of the tree. Smile

Glad you didn't get hurt either.
