Headed to the mountains in a couple of weeks ( staying in Boone NC ) Can anyone point me in the direction of some good BBQ? I heard from a friend that this place was pretty good. Have any of you eaten here or heard about it?

It is pretty good. It's full on bbq style, so uber casual is the theme. Pinic tables and such. I don't mind at all, but some folks might.
Bandanas BBQ has a better atmosphere, about the same quality bbq and a more rounded menu.
Pappy's Barbeque inc is well thought of there. But, I had a shaky first experience there and can't whole heartedly send you there.
And that's about it for OK bbq in Boone/Banner Elk.
Now...where you should go while in Boone is either Louisiana Purchase or the Dan'l Boone Inn. I'll also add that Louisiana Purchase is not as casual and a little bit on the romantic side compared to a BBQ joint. Not snooty, but definitely not as easy going as the others.
Now I will admit that the Dan'l Boone Inn is a childhood food destination for me and I am probably biased. So....Louisiana Purchase first...then Dan'l Boone Inn |

Woodlands! I always call it the Dancing Pigs cause I can never remember their name. Their sign has dancing pigs. I stop there every time I pass through and like the place. Good pulled pork sandwich with potatoe chips...my favorite. Their sweet tea is good also. _________________ Shellfish, Q and beer! My trilogy! |
