Just out of curiosity - anyone ever try smoking (or grilling) brussel sprouts? My fiancee convinced me to cook some for dinner, and all I could think while forcing myself to eat them was that the only way I'd enjoy them is if I could put them on the grill or smoker.

Here is a trick for brussels sprouts,

I happen to love them, But anyways;

When cleaning fresh sprouts, cut an X into the core a bit so they cook more evenly,
Blanch in heavily salted boiling water, drain and cool in iced water to set the color and prevent overcooking.

Saute an equal amount of bacon & add fine diced onion (to make a Panache) when the bacon is at your desired cripsness, when the onions are clear add the sprouts to bring them up to temp again. (you can also add fresh whole butter if you bacon is very lean)

add some coarse-ground fresh black pepper to taste, and maybe a pinch of granulated garlic. The bacon and the salted blanching water that was used should cover the salt needs.
Serve hot.

it is not smoked, or grilled but they are mighty fine that way.

or you could blanch them, skewer them and grill until desired doneness, I bet that would be tasty. I might need to add that to my menu as a seasonal item!

I have skewered and grilled them. Dries them out pretty good but tasty. I think the blanch and grill would be the way to go. Going to try that next time.

Try Harry's recipe but add a small handful of pine nuts during the last step.

Harry's recipe sounds great and the pine nut suggestion makes it sound even better.
