That thing is awesome. Crazy amount of welding involved being double walled and insulated. _________________ D. Tillery

Hi Steve and Tom,
Chimney question for you (and anyone else that has an opinion)
Do you mind sharing the thoughts on why you chose to run the chimney exit where you did down lower vs making the exit for the chimney at the very top of the cooker?
With the exit lower like this, is there any concern about smoke exiting the chamber midway and not getting enough smoke to the top racks?
Was also wondering what made you switch to this chimney design from the original version with all the chimneys slanted?
Thanks for being a part of the board here and for the insights.

i changed the way the stacks were origanlly because i didnt get the flow i wanted out of the last chamber, the stacks being in the middle is a misconception just by looking at it from the outside, there is a v plate inside each chamber that controls where the exhaust leaves the chamber, its low with a adjustable baffle as well

Steve,
Great looking pit that you guys have built, just wondering if you were still planning on building mine that I ordered 2.5 years ago and paid 70 % deposit on......
Still here waiting?
Thanks and sorry to butt in on a good thread, it just really ticks me off to loose money.

Don't know anything about you or your situation but three things come to mind.
#1. This isn't the place. Something tells me there is another side to the story and this is a board for talking about BBQ. Not trying to publicly solve a business situation or call someone out. Steve puts his phone number out for anyone that wants to call him. If you've got an issue with him, call him. Save the drama for somewhere else.
#2. From what I know of Steve, he's nothing but a stand up guy and has helped a lot of people here.
#3. See #1.

I agree with Joe Bryant, in that this is not the place to try and air your grievances. This ain't Festivus, for pete's sake.
I'll also add that something about your claim doesn't smell right, for at least three reasons:
1. I (and others) have never had anything but incredibly fast, incredibly honest service and dealings with Steve and Tom.
2. If you had really paid 70% 2.5 years ago and were actually concerned, I find it unlikely that you would not have taken some sort of legal action.
3. As JB said, Steve's number is out there for all the world to see (and he's pretty forthcoming with his cell as well), so you could have contacted him more easily (and probably received a better response) by phone and not by making a pseudonymous post on a message board. _________________ Matt

I can tell you I'm fully aware of most issues in the past regarding this. Now I also know that he's taken care of all issues within his control. My guess would be that you are simply someone who can't be pleased.
Let's get this thread back on track. |

| Will this pit be in S. Texas at any of the IBCA events ? Would love to see this thing in person. Very innovative. |

Hey Guys, thank you all for your support. We have been working very hard the past year to develop a reputation for top of the line pits and top of the line customer service. I think we have done pretty well. I also want to state that "okie dokie" is not totally without reason to complain. We have made substantial progress in resolving some issues that Steve had previous to his association with Lone Star Custom Pits. It is still a work in progress. I would like to leave it at that and ask y'all to let it lie as well. If anybody has questions regarding this subject, my cell # is 612-759-8393

Hey Jet, it is currently in our shop just north of Houston. We would welcome you to stop by and give it a look. If we take it out to a comp some day, I'll let you know when and where. |

Camdentom,
I thank you for the information, I will try and give you all a call this weekend.
As for the pit that you guys have built like always looks top notch. I dig the green paint job.
Take care and glad to see things are back on track.
