Getting ready to leave to pick up my new pit. Bought Okiejay's Fat40. Just wondering what the rules were for MO, or even if I have to license it.

Thanks

If things haven't changed in the last 18 years, yes, you will have to tag it. Everything in Missouri that has wheels, a hitch, or even thought about growing up to have wheels or hitch will be taxed and tagged.
Make sure you have a title for the pit, you'll need it.
I'd moved from KS, where trailers under 2k don't need tagged and had a hell of a time getting my boat trailer tagged since I had no title to it.
Also had to title the boat, motor, trolling motor, nearly the bait bucket, the works.
The one good thing about all that, it that it's cheaper to tag and register all that in Missouri than it is to just tag your pickup in KS

You will have to license your trailer, you will also need a title from the manufacture. If not you most likely could just tell them that it is homemade trailer. I think that if you mention that its a bbq pit that they will probably tag and tax it different. I made a small 7' utility trailer several years ago, all I did was go to a "motor vehicle inspection" station and told them I had a homemade trailer. They verified that it had light and all other safety stuff. Take all that to the DMV and they issued me a title and a VIN tag to rivet onto the trailer. Hope this helps.

It's much easier here in TX. I needed to tag one of my smokers. I just went to the DMV and registered it as homemade. They wanted to know how much it weighed... I guessed. I filled out a form, they punched a couple of buttons on the 'puter and gave me my tags...

James.

do you have to register your pit in KS?? I've ordered a DPP and didn't think about this.
