Hello all,
Been reading for while now. You all have great info in the Art of Barbecue. I'm leaving tomorrow to go see OkieJay and pick up his Fat40. It was to good a deal to pass up. Wanted a Fat50 but, could only afford the bare bones model. I decided to give up the 12 extra inches of space for all the bells and whistles of his 40. I'm so excited I can't stand it.
This will be my first year cooking in comps after years of cooking for tailgate parties at KC Chiefs games. Decided to give it a try with some buddies of mine. Should be fun. Any pointer would be greatly appreciated.
See you all on the Ring,
Gary Grass

Welcome Bud. Enjoy the Fat 50. I have a Brinkman Smoke-n-Pit that I can wheel from the backyard to the driveway on rainy days. It has plastic wheels so I do not have to worry about air pressure. I also have a Brinkman Bullet Smoker that has a little door I can open and throw some chunks of wood in. Looking forward to seeing some photos of your BBQ.
I would hang up the tailgating at the Chief's if I were you too. Good luck in the comps and welcome to the madness. |
