Sorry guys, I haven't been very active the last few weeks, as it has been very busy at work and I've been travelling quite a bit. Got a new gimmick the other day (a new vertical grill) and will show some pics of the first tests during the next couple of days.

After some 50 or more trips to the US (most of them took me to the Eastcoast), I will finally get to Texas for the very first time. Only a short visit, but I will have a night in Houston without any apointments, so what is the ulimative BBQ-Spot, that I shouldn't miss?

Thankful for any recommendation.

Thereafter I am going to visit a friend over the weekend, who owns a ranch about 1 1/2 hours west of San Antonio.

Goode Company BBQ. I think it is on Kirby. If you are south of town then I like "Grand Prize BBQ" in Texas city.

Mo's BBQ in Humble is right down the street from the airport, its off of 1960. Mo's use to be just a small trailer on the side of the road that had pinic tables outside but now the moved into a nice new building a few years ago. Its pretty good Q, not the best in town. I usually get all 3, brisket, ribs, and sausage, of course.
..... Goode Company BBQ in town can be good too, they have a great Texas cowboy atmosphere and they have great sides and extra stuff.... like smoked duck........
...... the best place I think you should try is Luling Market off Richmond down by the Galleria area..... its a tribute to the real City Market in Luling TX..... this place has has great Q, all 3, brisket, ribs, and sausage are great......

Yes, I will drive there. He lives in Concan, TX. If you can name one or two spots along the road, would be great.

For tonight a colleague from Houston will pick me up. Thanks god he already agreed to go to a BBQ-Restaurant.

I will leave him the choice between Mo's and Luling Market.

Thank you again.

hey go to Luling City its way better than Mo's...... if you drive out on I-10 to your friends there r some different places....out on west side of Houston there is a Goode company BBQ that GatorGrillin mentioned off of 10...... there is Midway BBQ in Katy which is really the westside of Houston..... its on the side of Midway grocery store and its great...... once you get out of houston...u can stop in Columbus at Mikeska's BBQ.... then u keep going in Flatnoia there is Joels BBQ.... but if you can wait drive a couple of more housre and get off 10 and go to the city Luling... like 10 minutes from the highway you can go to the original City Market and thats one of the best places in the world.... and I know its out of the way but if you go like 15 up from Luling is Lockhart and its the BBQ Capital of the State (world).... Kreuz Market and Smitty's are the best....this town is legendary!!!!.... hope that helps... let me know if this helped any or if you want me to keep going, cuz I can!!!!!!!!

I've been to Houston a few times... doing work for all three airports in the area, including Intercontinental. I can't comment about any BBQ places, but I did love Berryhills for their Chimichangas. even though they're known for their tamales. Not sure of their locations as there was one near our offices out on the beltway.

and while you are on I-10, you only have to drive a bit south of the interstate to SHINER, TEXAS and tour the Spoetzl Brewery and then stock up at any grocery store for a little bit of Texas' best beer! use the link to check the place out

Sorry, I am late - but couldn't access the internet since I left Houston and unfortunately I missed some of your recommendations.

Thank you again for the hints.

Here is the rest of my Texas Story.
