What do you know about this place? I've heard from many that this place has darn good barbeque, even though they are a chain. I'm in atlanta and there are several that are nearby...gonna try tommorow and see what all the fuss is about...and do so with an open mind. Some of the folks that say its really good know their bbq and so I feel i'm obligated to try it and post what i find.

Your thoughts?

Based off the cookers that I see you own, something tells me that what you would do will be better. I have never tried any of their Q eventhough I also live in Atl.

Let me know if it is any good.

The pulled pork tasted like imitation pork oat meal. They used a ice cream scoop to plop it on my bun (and it stayed in the same round shape). I knew I was in trouble when I asked the teenage girl behind the counter what was good and she said "don't know, I really don't like BBQ." The after effects followed me to Savanna. Embarassed

I had the triple platter recently ribs, pork, chicken nuggets dipped in hot sauce.

Ribs sucked not much substance
Electric cooked Q was edible with the very good sauce
Fried Chicken tenders were not bad after dipping in the spicey bbq sauce with the wing sauce already on it.

If I wasn't intrigued by the sauce I would have hated it, fries and corn on the cob sucked too. Bread wasn't toasted just an afterthought.
I ordered a large platter, I think I got one more chicken piece, no extra ribs or q, 1 extra bread and 1/2 of a cob, and maybe extra soggy fries for the $8 extra.

Shane's is a strip mall chain, uses help that must make really low pay cause they really sucked in the commerce, ga. area. Cook seemed to run show with barely legal girls who did not have 1 single clue about the operation or customer service in general.

Should have known better, there was an Indian resteraunt that was packed on the other end of said strip mall, Shane's had maybe 10 customers

We had one open in the des moines area so the wife and I thought we'd try it.
What a waste of time and money that was.
Service was sub par and the food...let's just say if I was in the area to eat bbq,I'd probably grab a Mcrib instead.

I really can't overemphasize the almost wet second day old stovetop stuffing consistency of the pork. However, the sweat tea was good.

I tried the Shane's in Chattanooga, TN.

Ribs were not good. Tough, fatty, no flavor. They have like a sampler platter that had ribs, pulled pork and chicken fingers, so a good way to try everything without ordering full meals.

I really liked the pulled pork though. They have a pretty big Shane's Granddaddy sandwich or dad's sandwich or something along those lines, with buttered texas toast instead of a bun. VERY good.

I can see that some people wouldn't like the texture of their pork. The one I went too wasn't the consistency as Alien experienced but it is a fine chop that they do or use some kind of machine to chop it up to a fine texture. But it still had great flavor and they have some REALLY good sauces.

Their peach sweet tea was great too. Drank 2 large cup fulls there and filled up again on the way out.

I too had the chicken fingers.... nothing special there but was good with their bbq sauces for dipping sauces.

I'll definitely go back for the sandwich but not the ribs.

OHHH..... forgot.... the wife had a smoked chicken sandwich that was GREAT. Flavorful and very tender. It was chopped kinda like pulled pork with no sauce, but we added a little bit anyway.

So yeah... pork and chicken sandwiches I'll definitely eat again.

Well, thanks for all the different opinions...

I just had to see for myself. So, I just finished a pork sandwich with slaw on top and a chopped brisket sandwich.

First, let me say that all in all the sandwiches were good, but not great. However, I'm sure to alot of folks who aren't into bbq like the lot of us don't mind a sandwich with no smoke flavor. I just didn't get the smoke flavor that I love so much. That is not to say that the sandwiches were not tasty, because I'd be lying if i said they weren't. I just prefer some smoke.

Now, the meat was not dry and the meat was piled on high. The brisket sandwich came on "texas" toast, which was good touch to the sandwich. Both were very warm...not hot...but warm.

Didn't try any sides...just the meat.

The house sauce was quite good.

I will have to say that I'll go back I'm sure a few times...If there were a smoke flavor then I'd be back alot more. I wonder how the meat is cooked...

Thanks for the postings.

At the one in Des Moines, I've had the pulled pork sandwhich twice. Both times it was ok, but I put a lot of sauce on to it to help it out. I liked the Texas toast buns, but would have liked them more if they were a little less greasy. The first time we went, I had the beans. Not bad, but not great either. The second time I had the potato salad. Tasted like the kind you can get out of a bucket at WalMart. Nothing special.

For where it's located, our bbq choice for lunch at work is Famous Dave's or Shane's. We don't go out for bbq lunch very often. Sad

You can go to their website www.shanesribshack.com and send comments. In that section, you COULD ask...."what equipment do you cook your barbecue on"??

Alien,
Did you eat at the location in the Little Five Points area, it has a Target, Lowe's, and Best Buy in the same shopping center. I ask because, I had a blonde haired girl, that gave me the same answer. As far as to how they cook their meat, I either read or saw something on TV, but I believe it is cooked with electricity, no flame in the place. I went one time, and will never return.
