Well, after having so many people tell me how great this place was I finally stopped by for lunch last week. I have actually competed against these guys in 2 different comps.
I got the sampler plate which had some pulled pork, brisket slices, chicken and baby back ribs. I also had mac and cheese and collard greens for my sides.
Pulled pork - To my surprise was acutally pretty good. It wasn't chopped but pulled nicely, had some bark in it buy not too much smoke that I could detect. Overall - A
Brisket - This is what everyone tells me I must try when I go here so I tried it. I could only stand to try 2 bites. It was very tuff, no real flavor and had a not so flavorfull glaze on it. Overall F
Ribs - Pretty good ribs, not overcooked like most places that just fall off the bone. Ok flavor on the rub and smoke as well.
Overall - B+
Chicken - They claim to beer can roast the whole chicken. It was great! Moist and tender, great flavor on the meat almost like it had been brined and the skin was nice and tender. Best thing I had on my plate.
Overall - A+
Sides - Mac and cheese and collards were both great.
Sauces - I had the 2 that were on the table. The mustard sauce was very nice and was very similar to the one I make, which could be why I liked it so much. The regular sauce, which I think was a blend of a tomato base and vinegar base was just OK. It was lacking a lot of all around flavor.
I would go back to Mac's again and if you are in the Charlotte area you should check them out. Kind of a mix between a biker bar/family place/witha a mix of suits from the uptown! _________________ Alex

| I certainly left happy. I didn't try the beer can chicken but the wings were great. I agree with you on the brisket, did not care for it that much. The service was good even though it was packed. Cool place, would love to hang out there. |

I wish I had heard of this when I was in town last Thursday night (I actually stopped in Lexington on the way down since I've had such trouble finding good BBQ in Charlotte).
Thanks for the head's up. _________________ I likes to eat 'da pig!

I absolutely love their chicken; it is some of the best I've had anywhere! _________________ "BBQ Contest: The only place you spend $500.00 for a $2.00 ribbon."

We enjoyed Bubba's BBQ, north of Charlotte a few years back. It was North of I-85, off I-77.
