Hello!

I just purchased a Hondo offset smoker and was reading on a FAQ that adding a firebrick or two would help with temperature swings in the Hondo smokers. Has anyone ever tried ceramic briquettes like the ones used in gas grills? Would a layer of these on the bottom of the smoker help any?

Just curious.. Worth a try eh?

I only know of guys that have used firebricks. They say it does help with temp hold temps in the main chamber. I would say give it a try. Check back to let us know how it works. Especially if you go with the ceramic briquettes. I'm thinking of adding something to my smoker. I have a char-griiler and it's a cool smoker, but them metal is kinda thin. With fall all but here, I imagine that the extra mass will only help maintain my temps.

Will do. I had a box of them, so I figured I would ask. I figure it can't hurt.
