| Hello all, I new to the smoking world, and have a question for ya'll if its ok. I have seen some rib racks at Home Depot the other day. My question is, are these things any good? I have several friends wanting me to cook ribs for them and I thought this would be a good idea to free up some space on the grill. I have a home made reverse flow smoker that has a cooking chamber 6' long. What do you guys think? THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!!! |

I tried to buy a fancy one and it was too big and bulky. Them a bought a cheapy $6 and it works great, I think it is a Charbroil small silver rack. Works great and I would recommend rib rack and beer can chicken cookers. They add a little extra to the experience. I also have a Jalapeno rack for stuffed japs. _________________ Big Ron

Rib racks are awesome.
Only a couple problems that you can run into with them. Make sure they aren't laying all over each other so the smoke and heat get where they need to be. They can certainly touch, just not where they make themselves into one giant rib. The other problem is basting. It may be just me, but if I'm going through the trouble of basting/mopping/glazing my ribs I'm going to do it right and I personally think that requires a flat rack of ribs.
No basting/glazing/moping, no laying all over each other........no problem. |

Air? Air? If your letting the air circulate it means you put the meat on before you lit the fire.
It's smoke you want circulating not air, my goodness gracious me what ever next! _________________ Here's a change Robert.

Got two of these racks from southern steamers last summer, holds 9 ribs each, SS and built well, so I
can put 18 racks of ribs on one shelf. I tried to look them up but had no
luck, they may be out of business You may have better luck.
