| We are building a house. I had the heating contractor stub out a propane gas source to the deck for my gas grill. How do I appropriately hook up the grill to the house supply? Do I replace the hose assembly/pressure valve that came with the grill with just a hose or do I try to hook into that assembly? Thanks for any/all help and recommendations. |

Definately check with somebody from your gas company before taking my word for it. I think it might be as simple as just having the right fitting put on your gas line. Something like the first two shown on this page:Link.
I know OPD is the legal connection fitting on the 40lb propane tanks used for grills. Stands for over-pressure device or something like that. But that's the standard as of a couple years ago, so if you can get one of these type fittings on your line you should be able to just connect straight to it. If you don't have a shutoff valve on that line you need to have put on it (I can't imagine they wouldn't already have done that).
Since it's a hard line and not a tank, you might not need or want the OPD type fitting. I would imagine your propane tank has some kind of relief valve that would serve the purpose. Your gas company will be able to tell you what you need. The building inspector if you have one could probably tell you what you need to do according to building codes. |
