Hey all,
I'm heading to Melbourne, FL for a week next month. Wondering if there are any good joints. I've searched some here and saw stay away from Sonny's. Any other recommendations in the area? Less than an hour/hour and a half drive from Melbourne? thanks for all you guys and gals do!!!

Chad

I travel to Melbourne for work every now and then. So far the best of the ones I have tried is Memaws on Eau Gallie. The night I ate there I tried the sliced pork and ribs and they were pretty good.

I've tried a place on Palm Bay road called Jim Jays and it was bad, found out he doesn't actually smoke anything. The only meat he sells that sees smoke is his brisket, and he ships it in from Texas and just reheats it.

I've also eaten at Charlie and Jakes on Eau Gallie and it really wasn't that good. I had their pulled pork and sliced beef.

I've eaten at Sonnys, and well it is Sonnys.

I wanted to try Woodys on A1A, I was told they had good ribs, but they were closed.

I imagine there are a lot of folks that head to Orlando that would like to know about this. There are two that aren’t too far. Black Water BBQ is in Orlando and run by competition cooks and in Auburndale there is a very old school place called Peebles that is worth the trip. You should be able to find them both via google.

Thanks for that info. We're headed to Daytona next month for the race and always stay in Orlando and for years have tried to find good Q down there without much luck.
