I was trying to think of a good, simple name for my user name so I asked my VERY, VERY imaginative 4 yr old daughter and she replied... " How about Kirspaculous? I think that's a good name for you Daddy."

pronounced ker-spak-u-lus

I got mine from when I was crewing tankers..I'd take a brake and have a Pepsi and a corndog for $1.00. Good eats and cheap. Well, when the guys see that's all you eat, it kinda just took and stuck. When deployed, that's all the pilots and crews called me by and some didn't even know my real name!!! And I almost forgot it too!! Plus, it's easy to flag me down in a drunkin' stupor at a concert...HEY CORNDOG!!!! Kinda sticks out, know what I mean...

Mike Lawry...Everytime I see that name, I think of that movie...I'm Mike Lawry...love that movie...

Years ago, right after Al Gore invented the internet, I needed to come up with a name that I could remember...

James.

Well, mine came from when we were trying to figure out a name for our competition team. My original partner and I had a list of about 10 possible names that we came up with. When I was showing the list to my wife she said, "hey, what about Samokin? You know, like in the Jim Carey movie "The Mask"?" I wasn't too sure about it but we put it on our list of possible names. I changed the spelling to try to represent the accent... Sa-Mokin. Then we had about 10 of our friends look at the list and vote on the name they liked the best. Guess which name won. They all thougth we would be Sa-Mokin the competition.... yah RIGHT! Going on three years later I'm STILL trying to live up to that name! Laughing

smokinfunk = favorite activity + last name. With this last name, it's just impossible to think up some variation that hasn't already been a joke or nickname, so it was decided to display a complete lack of originality in my current nick.

Mine came from 2 hobbies I have smoking meats and playing music, the music has became a full time job of running a DJ business the other of smoking is still just a hobby, but that could change in time, so just call me smokingmusic.
Great thread here.

I use to be an amature boxer...in a former life. One day we were trying to come up with a ring name, and my trainer introduced me as Bang Bang....it stuck. I still love boxing, some people still refer to me as Bang Bang.

Twenty some years ago, I was the Maintenance pilot for a small airline. Did all the inflight checkouts and such. Well, one of the secretaries started calling me Skybob, I enjoyed being around her (nice H**ters), so hey, Skybob is what I went with.

Without my glasses, I'm a dead ringer look-a-like for a 40 year old Orson Welles. The 'big' part is kinda self-explanatory.

Changed the name of my BBQ team in 2002 from Top Hog to Simple Q.

I decided to simplify my entire cooking methods and I felt the name change would accompany the concept

Got the name after a work Christmas party one year. I was found in the party room the next morning and they told me I looked like i had just been in a trainwreck. The name has stuck with me ever since.

Crashpilot - Back many many years ago when we were all trying to come up for our first "cool" screen name for our first AOL account I was in the very beginnings of flight school and I was struggling with some things. It popped into my head and it stuck. crashpilot.com is also my domain name.

P.S. I got better and never did wind up wrecking anything.
