First thing I do when I get into a hotel room is take the comforter off the bed and toss it in the corner. It's the least washed linen in the whole room. The handset on the phone and the TV remote are never cleaned or sanitized either. I'd also advise never using any robes and/or slippers that are for "complimentary" use in your room.

Not every hotel is the same though. Some that I know, other than the shady side-of-highway joints do actually clean the remotes and phones. I agree about the complimentary slippers though. Ugh, other people's feet.
