That was sooo funny. About the best we do with telemarketers is just hand the phone to our 4 year old, who loves to talk on the phone... _________________ http://kickthefridge.com |

I had the cops show up at my house & arrest me for something similar that I did a few years back and while living in another state.
A carpet cleaning place called and offered to clean 1 room of carpeting for free,
I originally acted uninterested but then excitedly asked if they could get blood out of the carpet and when they said yes I asked how soon they could get here, then I changed my mind, then asked for them to come out again, all while acting very nervously
Then I asked if they need to report it to anyone if they cleaned up blood from my carpet. This went on for quite a while with my girlfriend just walking around shaking here head with disgust and giving me dirty looks.
about 1/2 hour later the county sheriff' department arrived! And when i say the department, I mean the whole friggin department! We had a SWAT van in front of the house and everything! I was sitting in the kitchen with a large window facing the road when they all came pulling in!
I walked outside and asked "Whats going on guys?" and I was immediately handcuffed.
I was arrested and cited for disorderly conduct Then I got to sit for 3 hours at the jail during questioning, the detectives did not find it as amusing as i did.
they also wanted to charge me with filing a false police report too, but I explained I never called anyone, how & why would I be responsible for what a telemarketer did?
I had to pay bail to get out of jail that night and the entire house was searched before I got my free ride in a police car.
It was alot of fun explaining that to the neighbors, They all found it quite humorous though.
Court date comes along and the prosecutor was very reluctant to drop the charges and recited several comments from the phone conversation between the telemarketer and myself. And the prosecutor tried to make it sound like I was instigating a hoax over public communication lines and would have tried for felony charges if he could have.
The judge sided with me because I just answered the telemarketers call, I didn't make any phone calls and I never said that I had injured or killed anyone during that conversation, I just asked if blood could be removed without ever saying how it got there!
I guess I was lucky because the judge could have been a real dick too.
It still cost me $200.00 which is 20% of my bail that is unfairly retained by the courts even ic charges are dismissed and or you are found not guilty.
So pleae be careful with playing jokes on annoying telemarketer , it could land you in a tough situation.
Now we have a telemarketer "NO CALL" list in Wisconsin that we belong to, and it makes it illegal for a telemarketer to call your number if your on that list.
It sure makes life less exciting around here, but the lack of phone calls is welcome. It is good for 2 years from sign-up, and sign up is twice annually. If your state does not have a list like that, it might be a good thing to write your local representative and mention the Wisconsin No-Call list and say that you would like to have one for your state also. _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |

Harry, that's too damn funny!! You should not have had to go through all that grief, though. The telemarketer should have been charged instead!
A few years ago I started getting calls at the house asking for "Mr. Bink". I patiently explained that there wasn't anyone there by that name. These calls continued for a couple of years, with me patiently and then not so patiently trying to get them to understand that they had the wrong number. They just kept asking for "Mr. Bink".
Finally one day someone called who actually spoke fluent enough English that I could ask him who they were really looking for. His reply was
"Mr. M. T. Bink". That's when the light went off in my little pea brain. Years before I had worked for a company called MTB, Inc. They had obviously not paid a company credit card that had my name on it... explained that I hadn't worked for them in years and the calls stopped....pretty darn funny! _________________ My Motto: Smoke, Drink, Eat...Repeat |
