Hey y'all,

I just wanted to throw a question out there and see what comes back. How much money would you need to start a restaurant with a small bar inside. I know there is a lot of variables to include in this so I will leave it open.

Another way to word this might be....If you could start over and open your restaurant again how much money would you set aside for this venture.

I ask this because I am looking that direction and just wanted some idea. We are doing competitions and catering right now and plan to go to full time catering in a year or so. We are hoping this will get our name and product out there. We like doing competitions because it keeps us on our toes.

Thanks

Better have lots of cash,at least backing you.

Do TONS & TONS of research. Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation

I've been in business since 82 ( not restaurant). I dam near bought a small rest. in June... 75K. I did my homework & discovered the hood, fire supression system was in need of upgrade($7K).
I 'stalled' a little figuring the guy would come down a little..he did..10K...
I still hesitated. One day he called trying to 'push' me as he had another...""Buyer Rolling Eyes ", I declined. So ,some lady took it over, (for a lot less $ than I was going to put down).

5 months later..the soft-serve machine puked( 3rd time this summer), one fridge & one freezer junked out, they still don't have(& can't get) fire insurance untill that hood/ansul is changed, Then, the water lines froze & popped flooding the dining room 2 w

eeks ago.
Plus, being new, she was working 12/7 to keep labor costs down.

She just plain went into it with not enough resources behind her.

I'm just sitting in the back row, watching Wink
My BIG delima is..I already work 70+ Sept. Thru April...do I REALLY want to do that all summer ,too ( 'specially since we're installing a new pool in May Wink )

be CAREFUL what you invest $$ in.

Oh, BTW...I researched a new small " snack bar" for the bowling center..$40K ish...City codes are tougher than State.
