Barry Switzer is an Arkansas boy, maybe you can talk him out of retirement.

They need someone who's a great recruiter to get more of the better players available..I'm sure they get into Texas, do they get into Florida? If the next guy isn't a recruiter..he'd better find someone to be "the recruiter"...can't depend on finding great running backs like this year..need a quarterback, and..well you know! |

We never get the big name coaches here. We get the young gun up + comer trying to make a name coach here seems like.
Thats what happened to us last year when we needed a new basketball coach. Looks like the same thing all over again.

LLoyd Carr is available. Just don't schedule Appalachian State or Ohio State and you'll be fine. I absolutly hate coaching controversies and the like.....I remember a few years ago when John Cooper was fired, there was a mess. Luckly for us we landed Tressel. Hey...he beats Michigain. Around here that's job #1.
Best wishes....there should be a lot of good coaches who want to prove their metal against SEC competition. Good Luck! _________________ When all is said and done, more will be said than done! |

| Arkansas is going to get the short end of the stick and they probably deserve it after what happened to Nutt. Winning seasons, championship game appearences and recruiting great players and they threw it all away because of some high school kid who may never amount to anything. I have got a lot of Arkie friends and I cant wait to see CHN run all over them at Ole Miss. |

I'll do it for $1.99m. I'm pretty sure I can win as many games as Nutt proportional to my salary.
Who knows if this was the right move; college football is a tough gig. I know a lot of people sneered at Georgia a few years ago for firing Jim Donnan despite a pretty solid win-loss record. We all know how that has turned out since. If you get the big $ and have the resources, you are expected to win, bottom line. _________________ I likes to eat 'da pig!

Right now it liooks like we are going the Nebraska route, meaning were looking at the top assistant coaches.
Also meaning that after the top 4-5 head coaches have turned the job down, egos get involved . No head coach wants to be your pick. If ya get what I mean.

This is a tough year to be looking for a college coach; there are a lot of openings and not enough name slots to fill them. You are also exactly right about not being the first person named. Who wants to be the known as the second (third, fourth...) choice? _________________ I likes to eat 'da pig!

Ya think Franchione would come back to the SEC? Only problem would be when yall play Alabama. I doubt he would make it out of the state alive. _________________ Mike

$2,000,000.00 annually for coaching a college team?
And his pay comes out of what fund? the tuition right? _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |

probably not...most of the big time athletic programs have separate budgets that are funded by ticket sales, donations, and merchdise.
Like at UGA everyone dontates for the right to buy tickets...then you buy the tickets. That money all goes together for all of the sports and then at the end of the year the athletic department makes a big donation to the endowment fund.
Hell dont worry about arkansas, they have plenty of money for education with one of the largest endowments in the SEC at well over a billion dollars....I believe that the Waltons are the reason for a lot of that money. |

Oh and UGA turns a larger profit than any other Athletic department in the country and none of the money comes from the education side.
Hell the atletic department has to pay out of state tutition for most of the student athletes on the teams... |

.....And at most colleges the boosters pay the players....so player salary doesn't come out of tuition fees either. _________________ When all is said and done, more will be said than done! |

The Arkansas football coach is the highest paid Arkansas State employee at something like 300, 000 or so a year. The rest is paid by the Razorback foundation.
Something close to that.

Seemed to work out pretty well for OU, Bob Stoops was the DC at Florida under Spurrier, Switzer was the current OC at OU (he was an assistant at UofA before OU) when Chuck Fairbanks went to the New England Patriots in 1973. You just have to make sure that you get the right one.
Wonder if Malzhan would come back? |
