LOL.....that's kinda funny.
One of the mediocre teams Mizzou beat this year was Illinois. Maybe you forgot how Ohio State did against them? The Buckeyes loaded their non-conference schedule with perennial powerhouses like Akron, Kent State and Youngstown State....talk about a 3-pack of cupcakes.
The only thing the BCS system has brought about since it removed strength of schedule as a component of the rankings is encouraging some teams to load their non-conference schedule with a bunch of Marys in order to protect their record.
I also feel like a team shouldn't even be considered for one of the BCS bowls unless their conference has a year end conference championship. Why penalize schoools from the bigger conferences that have to play an extra game against a division winner? I guess if your team is from a conference loaded w/ patsies the point is moot anyway.

Yes, the Sooners beat the Tigers earlier this year. MU went to Norman without their #1 running back (sprained ankle) and looked as if they were awe struck. (Currently watching that game as I type - thanks FoxSports Midwest). Since that game Mizzou has dominated their opponents. Among the common opponents between MU and OU (Tech, Colorado, A&M & ISU), MU is 4-0 where OU is 2-2. MU averaged 44.5 pts per game/18.5 pts per against. OU averaged 27.5 per and 20.5 against.
OU is 1-0 in neutral turf, MU is 2-0.
But frankly, none of that matters come Saturday night. I believe MU has the advantage this week due to some key injuries on OU and MU is healthy - assuming Coffman plays.
As for MU not playing anyone, they are currently 2-1 against teams currently ranked in the top 15 of the BCS and have an overall schedule strength in the mid 30's, which will likely rise to the high 20's/low 30's after the game against the Sooners.
For those who say Mizzou would finish at the bottom of the Big-10, they beat the team (on the road) that beat Ohio State (in Columbus). _________________ Boondoggle BBQ

first thing is that the transistive property that works in algebra doesnt work in football...a beats b beats c doesnt mean a beats c.
Also playing in the big 12 north is like playing in the WAC. 1-2 bigs games and 10 practices. You want to know why many of the top teams have gotten beaten this year? Because they were used to it. The couldnt handle the pressure of being a top team and they could handle taking everyone's best shot. The game is totally different at the top. Everything is changing for these kids...more celebrity, more time reading the papers and listening to how great they are, less time spent trying to prove something. Add that to the fact that they used to get up to give their best shot againts the other team, that other team is getting jacked through the roof for a chance to beat the #1 team. Taking those shots week in and week out makes champions, OU has been there before they know what it takes, MIzzou is thinking that no matter what happens we had a good season. I say that OU rolls they are battle tested...They still have all their goals on the table win and get some help and they could play for the title and they have been listening to all the excuses all week about how so and so was out, mizzou turned the ball over, blah blah blah about how Mizzou should have won in Norman...I really think OU rolls...35-7 or something along those lines..

I agree about the transverse property though, like I said none of that matters this week. It was to show that MU have improved since the first game against the Sooners.
But seven points? Mizzou's low output this season was 31 and that was against the Sooner defense without injury. This week the Sooners are without their two best lineman.
If Mizzou wins Saturday night, no one can argue about their selection for the National Championship game. They would have a 3-1 record against the BCS top 15, have an overall strength of schedule around #30 and have the Heisman runner up. (If they beat OU, I think Daniel will finish 2nd) _________________ Boondoggle BBQ

Who's the winner going to play for the Big 12 title? They should just give the winner of this game the title I'd say. |
Good thing the Big 12 decided to go ahead with the game. _________________ OkieJay

Like I said....careful what you wish for.
Kinda highlights the disparity between the Big 12 South and the Big 12 north. _________________ Mike

Temple was hurt, MU had no rushing game... if you'll remember we were winning in the second have until a bad handoff was fumbled away for an OU touchdown.
The results in San Antonio will be different. See you there? |
You were right....them Tiger cubs got beat even worse than the game in Norman.....good call. _________________ Mike

That was a bit embarrassing. Too bad CU beat OU, otherwise they'd be playing for the championship. I can understand how OU lost in Lubbuck without Bradford, but how the hell did they lose in Boulder? _________________ Boondoggle BBQ

Missouri was out-coached and out-played, in that order.
The Big 12 South may be superior to the Big 12 North but Oklahoma would have a losing record in the Big 10 or the SEC... _________________ Traeger Lil Tex

Hope you didn't lose too much money Krek!! OU didn't play the way they can at CU..but they played when they had to down the stretch..Tech game was obvious, but they took care of OSU in dominating fashion, and then there was that game last night..5 Big 12 championships!! |

...and Big 12 North teams would be winless in those conferences. CU got lucky against OU and K-State got lucky against Texas. Other than that, Big 12 South dominates.
Did I just defend OU? _________________ "Tag line? We don't need no stinkin' tag line!"

It was a fun game, we didn't get back to Austin until about 1:30am. Pretty much what I expected (maybe hoped) would happen. I watched several Colorado games and that was the best game they played all year and it was OU's worst.
I kept giving my Tech wife a hard time about them beating us. If that hadn't of happened we would be headed to New Orleans |
