It is heavy without a barrel even on the damn thing!! But i agree it is one hell of a fun one to shoot. It draws a crowd at the range when I pull that one out.

carrying it in a tac Holster is a chore too, I am trying to find a belt that won't roll-over under the weight, One of my buddies carries his .44 mag revolver for deer hunting, and he rigged a cross-shoulder strap alonf with the leg restraint to keep it in place.

I might do the same, I would love a bandolier holster, but finding one for a scoped 10" barrel Desert eagle in left hand is next to impossible. I got the tac holster on eBay for a decent price, the 10" er sticks out the bottom quite a bit making quick draws very difficult.

If we ever get our CCW
My next ty will either be one of the Ruger P-Series with ambedextrious de-cocking lever in .45 ACP or a glock in the same caliber. The ruger revolver is a bit bulky but will never jam in a critical situation if ever needed. my D-E had 1 stovepipe jam on factory ammo on the first round through it, None since though.
I guess the .50 A-E round was designed to pierce syrian body armor,
Oh, Mine is actually Israeli made, And accurate is an understatement, I would love to get it in a mechanical rest to see how good it really is though.

I love the eae of breakdown for all 3 models, the ruger revolver only requires a dime or a penny for a full strip down to the bare frame. the glock and D-E require nothing but moving the correct levers..

Both the glock and the ruger P-series come into sight for me no matter how I raise or drop the gun to shooting position, No guess work or wandering to get on target, point & shoot! thats all.

if you ever get up here, we may need to burn some powder together while the BBQ is cooking. i shoot a few different ranges, and my favored actually has a 300 yard target that I use my 22-250 at with its BSA 16x-32X Cat-eye scope. I love long distance shooting.

I also love black powder with iron sights, Me & scopes do not get along, I learned with iron sights and I am better with them. I might try a guide scope to see if that helps me for running shots

thats sound like a plan as I also own a P-89 in 9mm that is also a very sweet piece. Love the top eject except when a hot shell flys down the front of your shirt. If I could get a CCW that truly would be the one I carry. I have never had the pleasure to attempt a 300 yard shot as I have always been into shotguns and pistols. I have the newer DE and would like to eventually get the .50 barrell, it is interchangeable with the newer model and just to have it and as you have said they are very easy to break down so even at the range it could be switched out quickly. I have gotten the pleasure to shoot some other really nice weapons because of it. pretty much eveyone stops shooting on the range when I unleash that beast. then they wanna see it and we trade for a clip. Cool

Nothing says "don't f*ck with me" like a good ol' flame thrower. You can't conceal it but do you really want to?

I have .44 Desert Eagle Mark VII. I can shoot it all day! The recoil is very manageable due to the gas system and weight... Nothing like shooting my .44 S&W 629 with hot loads or my .454 Casull!

On my wish list is the new S&W Model 500! Now that is a hand cannon!

James.

Harry,
I have both the Glock and the Ruger in 45. I prefer the Glock trigger to the Ruger. The Double action on the Ruger make for a long pull on the first shot and then a kind of soggy (?) trigger that does not break cleanly on the other shots. The Glock has a 3.5 lb trigger and breaks cleanly every time. I like them both but I carry the Glock because it is less bulky.
I admit I really am a trigger freak because I get every weapon I own tuned as much as possible. And I buy guns based on the ability to tune the trigger. I have done some tuning to the Ruger (It was my first large bore and very affordable and I didn't have much experience with semi autos, I was raised with revolvers) but I can't get it the way I would really like. My Remington 700 in 30'06 is about a 2.5 lb trigger and really easy to adjust.

I got a rem 700 BDl custom deluxe in left hand that sits as a show piece only.

My first one came apart at the 9th round through it. I am scarred from it and A little loss of vision due to it.

They replaced the weapon, but I am still a little shy of it.

It was factory rounds when it went, that gun never saw hand loads.

When is hog hunting open down there?? I would love to do a little shooting down there when I come down to visit mom & dad. but I do not know where to go??

Would you be interested in showing a northern guy a legal hunting spot around you??
I would really like to take one with my bow, and have a side-arm handy for a "just in case" situation.

I shot a few around Ft. Pierce 20 some years ago, but I do not remember where we were! and it is probably all condo's there now anyways.

I'd be happy to get you out up here for whitetails, grouse, turkeys, or whatever for a trade, or pay for your time.
Please let me know.
I will plan my trip to coincide with hog season if you are up for it?

Thanks,

(Sorry for the off-topic post guys)

I carry a Sig P229 with the DAK trigger. My wife carries a Kahr.

No need to conceal it anyway. Just tell the po po that you REALLY hate weeds and on top of that your pit is a mother to get clean.

Unfortunately the State of Illinois with Hot Rod as the Governor won't have CCW anytime soon. There was a push for it though. The Birch society, little crazy if you ask me, found a loophole but that got shut real quick. Most states that have it show a lower violent crime rate and overall lower crime. Also the state of Chicago has a pretty tight reign on the Governor's office so it probably won't happen in my lifetime.

But I do own a SIG 228 9mm, S&W 686 .357, S&W sigma 380, Davis .38 Derringer, Mossberg 12 ga. Shotgun, Remington 7400 30.06 with scope (deer rifle) and a Ruger 10/22 for plinking. I sold the AK-47, Ar-15 and M-1 Garand

Does anyone besides me find it odd that the area's with the tightest gun control laws always have the highest violent crime rates??

Is this how politicians think?:
"Hmmm, lets keep the weapons out of law abiding citizens hands so they can not protect their family or property so the dirtbags can just run all over them. then we can get more taxes out of them so we can protect them".

I got a whole mess of fishing rods but no guns.

One thing I do know is you better be wearing brite orange in Pennsylvania Monday after Thanksgiving cause there aint a deer with a prayer on opening day. Shocked

I always wanted to strap my Swordfish mount accross the front of my car, put on my red and black check flanel coat along with an Orange hat and drive thru Western PA on the first day of deer season. Stop at a couple gas stations and rest stops along the way...I'd crack up the whole time...I'd have to have a hidden camera in the car to catch some of the crazy looks I'd get. Very Happy

Population probably has something to do with it but Vermont has no regulations for packing heat and has the lowest crime rate in the country (or they use to). Basically if you’re 18 or older you can pack heat as long as you’re not in a court house,on school grounds, or a felon.

You never know whose packing heat which is a good deterrent.

Guns were a hobby of mine a number of years back. I had a Federal Firearms Licnese and a Class 3 license. I had quite an arsnel for a while.

Ingram 45 cal MAC-10 full auto with barrel extension, flash hider, brass catcher, removable shoulder stock, pop bottle adapter, 30 round banana clips & molded case for all.

S&W Model 629 44 mag with 10" barrel (Dirty Harry Special)

S&W Model 686 Combat Magnum customized for Bianchi Cup competition. (Action job, extended arm, chamfered, radius'd, magna- ported, Pac grips, etc)

Colt 45 Auto Government Model with USSS (US Secret Service) serial numbers stamped in the body.

Colt CAR 15 with Red Dot scope

Glock G17 9mm

Ruger Mark II

Ruger 10/22 - Highly modified (barrel shroud, flash hider, combat folding stock, bipod, 50 round banana clips, Bushnell scope, crank trigger) You could empty a 50 round clip in about 3 1/2 seconds or so.

Davis 32 cal over/under 2 shot derringer (pocket gun)

Remington 7400 30.06 rifle with Tasco scope

And a dozen or more others that came and went.

I don't have but a few left for home protection and hunting now. I don't ever feel a need to carry a weapon so I don't, but I had a BLAST with some of the guns I had! I would spend evenings and weekends reloading ammo for the next shooting session. I've killed countless glass bottles and have been known to waste a washing machine or two when they showed up too. Laughing
