I'm gonna go this year and hang out w/ Simcoe County Smokers. I'll also get to catch up w/ Michael and the Hela Grill Team Gut Glut....the team from Germany that was across the isle from us last year.
I'd like to be cookin' it again, but I'm really looking forward to hangin' out w/ Roxy and the guys, sippin' a little whiskey, and soakin' it all in.
I'll be gettin' in sometime Thursday and leaving Sunday morning...staying at a little B&B in Fayetteville that we stayed at last year. _________________ Mike

My wife surprised me this year and is taking me to the bbq for the first time. Looking forward to it. Just got into smoking this past year so it is going to be a great learning experience for me to see how folks are working their smokers and such.
Hope to meet some of you!

Good luck Roxy, I hope you guys kick butt.
A little friendly observation, Mike's Magic Margaritas and serious cooking did not work for me. Those things sneak up on you, they should be called Mike's Ninja Margaritas. Mike is a great cook and a great guy, you will enjoy having him around.
Have a great time!

I learned my lession with margaritas a while ago and I know what ya mean by sneaking up... Funny how ya all of a sudden forget how to walk.
Donrt know about kicking any butt, we are just hoping to not have ours handed to us in a 9 by 9 box.. _________________ Chargriller Akorn

Wanted to post a little recap here.
Patrick(Sa-Mokin') and I left Wed. afternoon and made it as far as Jackson, TN for the night. We grabbed a bite to eat and had a few cold beverages as we tried to figure out what they put in the water there in TN.
We got up and left Jackson about 8:30 and made it to Lynchburg around 11:30. We pulled into the park and dropped off wood and briskets at Roxy's site and did a little walkin' around. We finally hooked up w/ Simcoe County Smokers in the afternoon and hung out w/ them for most of the afternoon. We went up to the hill for dinner(Jack and coke) until we left to go meet the German team in Tullahoma.
Friday was more visiting(read:drinking), helping set up(read:drinking), and international relations(you guessed it). I took a turn at watching temp gauges Fri. night so Roxy could grab a few winks.
Saturday went pretty quick as I split time between Simcoe's site and Hela's site, trying to help where I could. Both teams were fun to watch on Saturday because they are structured differently than my team w/ different jobs and/or meats to cook for each member. Since my team is my wife and I, I cook all the food and she does all the presentations.
I thought both teams did a great job w/ what they cooked. Everything tasted great and they really showed they deserved to be there amongst the top cooks in the world.
I had a great time going out there w/ Patrick and hangin' w/ Roxy and the guys. It was to good to see a bunch of Ringers there. I got to see Old Dave again as he was right down the row from Roxy. I also had the pleasure of meeting L&H out there. I caught up w/ Gordon Friday as well and got to visit for awhile.
All in all it was a great trip. I was a little jealous of these guys for getting in this year, but I really enjoyed having more time to "soak up" being at the Jack without all the worries of cooking.
Sorry, but I didn't get many pics to post. Patrick was the unofficial photograper so hopefully he'll have a few pics to post. _________________ Mike

Sure was fun working on a stack of cups up the mountain top with you and Patrick...
We handed out a lot of BBQ to the crowds on Saturday and that was a blast to see so many folks wanting to try some Canadian BBQ. _________________ Chargriller Akorn
