Does anyone have any know how on how I could make my WSM mobile. I was hoping to put it on wheels somehow, but was not sure of the best way to do it. If anyone has any other alteration that they have found useful, let me know. Mine is brand new and ready to go. Thanks ahead for everyones help. _________________ "Light travels faster than sound, that is why some people appear bright before you hear them speak".

Hmmm.... Not to sound like a smart-ass even though I know I will.
I just pick mine up and carry it where I want it to be.
Are you wanting to move it while you are cooking? I don't know if that would be a good idea if you use water in your water pan.... One sudden stop or bump could slosh water over the edge and into your fire. That would be a VERY bad thing.
I suppose if you are using sand or some other alternative for your heat sink. Then having it on wheels might be handy of you needed to move it to a more sheltered location.
But as portable as the WSM's already are... I'm puzzled why you would even want to make a mod like this. _________________ I only believe in two basic food groups... Chili & BBQ

Find a clunker gas grill and use the frame, or mount it to a hand truck.
I've seen Webber Kettle frames used as well.

BBQMan,
A couple of years ago on impulse I bought a Weber Performer (like in your picture) for $20 at a garage sale. Any thoughts on converting it to a WSM style smoker? (I also have an old Weber kettle around).
Thanks,
Dean |

Actually, the good folks at Pro-BBQ are working on something along those lines.
I have a smoky Joe Platinum 18" that I hear will work fine with the new middle ring.
It's a fairly straight-foward modification once you figure out the band dia. and grate placement. _________________ BBQMAN
