This very simple formula will give you a start on a medium thick catchup based sauce
1/3 apple cider vinegar
2/3 catchup

add other ingredients to taste
(sugar, worstershire, red pepper flakes, garlic, onion, etc)

Heat to marry flavors, cook down to thicker consistency if you want that.

Carolina Red Pork Sauce

1 1/2 cups cider vinegar
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 tsp cayenne or hot dried red chile flakes
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and stir to dissolve the sugar. Serve at room temp or chilled. Sauce keeps indefinitely.

42 replies in the search section …. Here is my favorite. “Alien Butt Juice” It is not your standard sauce but I figure you will make a small amount before trying a gallon.

1/3 cup brown sugar

Opional but v. good: 1/4 cup meat drippings
