I'm looking to put in something like a 6x10 patio or anything cheap. Concrete slab is a bit expensive and I don't know how to do one? I thought about buying pavers, building a box, fill with graval, sand, and then pavers.
Thoughts PLEASE! |

| What about a standard deck with Diamond Plate over it? Would it have to be the heavy duty or can it be the aluminum? I could even go with black so it doesn't show anything. |

I'd go with pavers and fine sand. The diamond plate would be gawdawful slick when it got wet. Not to mention getting hotter'n blazes in the sun.
I just put in a 8X8 pad for a building. Used 22 bags of 80# sakrete and a bunch of elbow grease. Cost less than $100 for the cement. If I would have had a clue, I would have rented a mixer from Home Depot for $30 and saved about a day in the process. _________________ Treager Texas pit

| you can also buy a form that you pour concrete into and it looks like pavers or split stone. You can buy a dye for the concrete to make almost any color you like |

Id do a double thought on that....very little oil or grease on it and
you got a surface thats slicker than owl ....
I like the concrete, gravel route.. _________________ Smokers Inc.

If you have never done pavers before, STAY AWAY! It may look good when your done, but just wait--it wont down the road. Concrete is cheap and easy to do. For something that small, hand tools is all thats necessary..and a push broom which Im sure you have.
Get a mixer, a truck full of sakrete, and a case of beer.....friends help for beer.
All youll need is an edger, jointer, and a float.
If you just HAVE to have the paver look, rent some concrete stamps for a day. _________________ How I roll:

Well if you are going to go to the trouble at least build something that will last and you will be proud to hang out on and cook on.
Go with pavers, slate, or flagstone.
4 inches gravel mix(stone and stone dust) 2 inches stone dust or sand and then apply the pavers or stone. Fill in the joints with stone dust or sand. Make siure to slope away from the house 1/8" per foot. I did my patio (500 sqft of bluestone) and it came out awesome. Did all the work myself and I couldn't be prouder. I hang out and drink beers on it on a regular basis. _________________ Q 'n Brews

It runs the entire length of my house out back. My dining room divides it into 2 patios one for cook'n and one for drink'n. Built it myself with a shovel, wheel barrow and a level. All that gravel and stone dust nearly killed me. i used 24x30, 18x18 amd 12x18 slate slabs that i bought at home depot. _________________ Q 'n Brews
