I was flipping the channels on the TV today and saw Paula Deen cooking. I stopped for a few minutes and she was throwing together Sweet Chicken Bacon Wraps. It looked pretty good.
She took chicken breast chunks and wrapped bacon around them and coated them in brown sugar and chili powder and baked them....about all I could think was how good they'd be smoked. They could also be a viable substitute for the heat of peppers in ABTs

here is the recipe link http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/reci..._34886,00.html

what do you guys think?

I think I'll be giving it a try... I'm not afraid to put anything on a smoker. Very Happy

Recipe link was down when I tried to look at it, but it sounds great to me.

I was planning on trying a very similar recipe but with rub instead of just sugar and chili powder.
I saw a picture somewhere of smoked bacon wrapped boneless chicken breasts and I knew I had to try them. Until I saw those pictures, I figured boneless breasts were a grill only item.

I may give this a shot with some decent sized butterflied shrimp.

I really don't know why I haven't tried wrapping bacon and smoking everything.......yet. Twisted Evil

I've had them before and yes the rock. Very Happy I routinely stuff my ABT's with shrimp and smoked Gouda, which I love. I'm sure it's be good without the pepper also.

there is a recipe in smoke and spice that is called "chicken from hell". its a pepper stuffed with chicken, onion, and wrapped with bacon. essescentially a ABT. i had been cooking these for years when i stumbled into the ring here and saw the cheese version, either way they are all good.
