I am so excited about this site and really have enjoyed reading the overwhelming amount of information. This is only my second day being able to spend time on the site.
I am located in South Carolina and employed by the local Sheriff's Office. Recently my wife and I built a log cabin in the mountains of Tennessee and along with the cabin we built an outdoor kitchen which is equiped with a good size built -in. I am really getting into BBQ and like many of you have been told that I should go into business! I have alot to learn before that can happen. |

Welcome neighbor! Lots of good stuff here. _________________ Electricity can be dangerous. My nephew tried to stick a penny into a plug. Whoever said a penny doesn't go far didn't see him shoot across that floor. I told him he was grounded. - Tim Allen |

Hilton Head is home for now! Dont get the wrong impression, I'm not among the rich and famous! Eufaula, AL is where I am from and the Marine Corp. transplanted me hear. Thanks for the comments on the cabin and I must say I am very proud of it! My Bride and I cut the trees from the land and all of the work was done by me, her and her father. I tried to attach a picture of the cabin and the outdoor kitchen but realized I need a site/link. I will try to get that figured out. I have a cool picture of my first smoked whole turkey. It was excellent! Soaked in brine for 12 hours, pulled out and dried then coated with a basic rub. The turkey was placed up-right (like he was standing) on a 16 oz can filled with chicken broth, garlic and a few thyme leaves. 6.5 hours later I was feeding 8 smiling faces.
Does anybody have an e-mail that I could send that picture to and that person post it? |

Retpig..go to General BBQ Discussion..about 5 lines down you'll see Tutorial for pics using Photobucket. I think that'll get you going. Sounds like the cabin was a LOT of work!! Almost like the pioneers did it! |

| Your just a couple of steps ahead of me. Building a log cabin is on my wish list. Probably won't be quite as scenic as the MTs in TN beings Im in Nebraska. I'm also a fellow law enforcment officer who like you said is not getting rich but enjoying the variety the job has to offer. Welcome to the ring and keep the smoke going. |
