Well, we did our first vending event last weekend in Charlotte. It was the Beer Bourbon and BBQ tasting. Got to meet Cactus from the ring, thanks for stopping on by and saying hey. Event went extremely well, they said 3-4 thousand should show up but ending up being more than 6 thousand at the end of the day. Every vendor in the place ran out, beer bourbon and all food vendors by 6pm and the event ran until 8. There were only 6 bbq vendors and the weather turned out great. It was a crap shoot like most have mentioned here but if you luck out with good weather there is money to be made. We went down the day before and cooked just like we do in competitions, we were the only ones who did, all others brought frozen and reheated. Glad we did it that way because we got some more press in the local paper. Here are a few pics we took before the craziness took place. There were only 5 of us working all day but it was well worth it.

Congrats Alex!! Tastiest pork at the show! Not bad press at all. The DPP cooker looks like it really put out some very good ribs and butts.

Nice job Alex and Ed....nothin' sweeter than having to write the "Sold Out" message at the end of the day! Cool

You got some great ink outta the deal and hopefully sold quite a bit of rub and sauce too.

Movin' on up... Wink

Way to go Alex.
Was that dad with you? I always seem to forget if he's still in New York and comes down for your events in N. Carolina.

And HOW is this post helping others on this forum???

Talking about selling out and posting pictures of your 'vending booth' along with a cutout of a newspaper clipping about YOUR business...This is helping other caters how???

When I posted things I thought might be of interest to others in the business you slammed me for it...

Point being there IS money to be made in vending but it is a crap shoot. Many others have asked questions about vending events and if they shoud do it and can make money. Next time I will spell it out for you marv or maybe just post my money figures and what went into my account, maybe yiou will understand that a little better. Man, talk about professional.

And yes, that was my dad in the picture. As others have stated on here I can't do large events as it is out of my comfort zone.

And next time you want to use a quote make sure you use the whole thing and not part of it to make it look worse. If you need the definition of what a blog is I will be more than happy to get off topic and explain what one is for you.

Alex, pay no mind to Marv...he showed what he's truly made of w/ that post. He shows his real (lack of)character.Confused

You should be thrilled w/ your success and I'm glad you shared it with the Ring. It's too bad that someone had to come in and trash your thread w/ a childish post like that.

Congrats Alex...we looked at the entry form for that and it was some big bucks to get in, plus, we just didn't have the time to do that. Glad you you sold out. We are doing a beach music festival in a few weekends, which will be our first. We are supposed to be the only bbq vendor out there, so everyone wish us luck...

Good luck Kevin, let me know if you have any questions, not that I have all the answers after only doing 1 but we learned alot real quick.

We cooked 3 cases of butts and 3 cases of baby back ribs and did them all competition style. Injected, rib backs peeled and everything rubbed down. Guess all the people loved the butts injected with Fab B! Hahaha, just kidding, we did not use any of that.

This was a great event. Tons of people and vendors. It was great meeting Alex and Ed while we were out there. As soon as I told them I was on the ring they invited me back tand showed me around let me tell you they had it running smooth. Never ending line the whole time. They were by far the busiest and most prepared. They were pumping out samples and half racks while the others were running out. Plus you really cant beat a Jack Daniels tent. Then they ran out Shocked
